Barcelona 4-1 Huesca: Barca Universal’s post-match talk

Barcelona got their job done and won their game 4-1 against Huesca on Monday night. With this result, the Blaugranas cut the deficit with La Liga’s leader Atlético at just four.

After the game, Barça’s young star Pedri talked to the media and analyzed the game. He stated that the squad knew how important this game was and they played like they were expected to, now the team is happy to keep that great streak in La Liga and to cut the deficit with Atlético to just four points. The youngster once again said how joyful it is to play with Leo Messi by his side, as he makes everything much simpler and keeps proving he’s the best.

Also, when asked about his first-ever call with the Spanish National team, Pedri declared to be surprised and extremely happy to get the chance to represent his country. Luis Enrique Martínez, called the 18-year-old for his first international duty on Monday morning, as he appeared on the Spanish list for the games against Greece, Georgia, and Kosovo.

In fact, the game had more incentives besides the goals scored. The game marked a milestone as Leo Messi equalized Barça’s legend Xavi Hernández in career appearances for the Catalan club.

The greatest player of all time and the retired midfielder are now tied at the top of the list with 767 games. If everything works as it should be, the Argentinian will surpass the Catalan in next Sunday’s game at Anoeta, Real Sociedad’s stadium.

Messi celebrated such a remarkable date with two marvellous goals. The first one came in the 13th minute and was the best of the night and was an unbelievable shot from outside the box that touched the crossbar right before going into the net. The second goal for the Argentinian was one of his signature moves, as he drove towards the box before curving an amazing shot.

Barça’s other two goals were scored by Antoine Griezmann and Óscar Mingueza. The Frenchman scored a marvellous goal from outside the box, which looked a bit like Messi’s. The third goal for the Catalans was scored by the youngster defender Óscar Mingueza, whose appearances keep getting better and better and finally scored his first professional goal for the club with a header right after halftime.

Huesca’s goal came in an extremely doubtful penalty by Ter Stegen. It was a doubtful call for various reasons, not only the penalty was given a minute after the first half was supposed to be finished (no injury time), but also there was no obvious contact to make such a decisive call. Although the VAR checked it, they did not change the referee’s decision. Rafa Mir scored right before halftime.
