Barcelona midfielder closes in on Tottenham switch – report
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona contract rebel Ilaix Moriba is closing in on a transfer to Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur.
The 18-year-old’s future has been a hot topic of discussion throughout the summer after he entered the final year of his contract with Barca and refused to sign an extension due to a disagreement in wages being offered.
Having run out of patience with their 18-year-old academy product, the Catalans decided to cash in on him this summer instead of losing him for nothing a year down the line.
RB Leipzig had emerged as a possible destination for Moriba, while reports earlier in the week also claimed that he had an agreement in principle with Chelsea. However, it now seems like it is Tottenham who are set to sign the 18-year-old Guinean prodigy.
As per Mundo Deportivo, Moriba was in London earlier this week, and it is believed that he held talks with the Lilywhites over a summer transfer. Now, the report claims that the midfielder and the Premier League club have a full agreement in place, with an official offer to Barcelona in the works.
The Catalans have set an asking price of €20 million, and it is expected that Tottenham match that figure, with an offer set to arrive in the next few hours. So, as things stand, Moriba could be headed to north London after a turbulent summer in Catalonia.
