In another major positive development for Barcelona, the club are set to confirm Spotify as their next main sponsor next week, reports SPORT.
The Catalan giants’ agreement with current sponsors, Rakuten is set to come to an end soon and the club have been holding talks with various interested parties to replace them.
And it looks like Spotify are set to become the Blaugrana’s next main sponsors, with the Swedish music streaming company on the verge of signing a four-year contract with Barcelona.
As per the terms of the agreement, Spotify will be investing around €60 million per year into the club, taking the total value of the deal to €240 million. Directors of the company have been in Barcelona for days to conclude the deal, with CEO Daniel Ek personally leading the negotiations with the La Liga giants.
The report also adds that apart from being the main shirt sponsors, Spotify will also see their name appear on the back of Barcelona’s training shirts as part of the deal.
While the main sponsor may have been sorted, Barcelona are still on the lookout for a new sleeve sponsor. There had been talks with Polkadot, who were willing to offer half the sum that Spotify are shelling out for main sponsorship rights but an agreement is yet to be reached with the cryptocurrency company.
Spotify, apart from becoming the main sponsors, also have their sights on the naming rights for Barcelona’s Stadium, the iconic Camp Nou. Talks over that deal have been ongoing for months as per the report and an agreement is in sight.
However, the announcement might not be made along with the sponsorship deal as there are still some details that need to ironed out with the investors, with Barça general manager Ferran Reverter in the United States of America to finalise the deal.
