Juventus showing ‘maximum commitment’ in Champions League not Serie A

Stefano Colantuono claims that Juventus are more committed to winning the Champions League this season than Serie A.

The Old Lady have shown some rocky form this season, with a number of points being dropped in the early part of the campaign, and Andrea Pirlo wasn’t shy in blaming a lack of pre-season.

In fact, the team chopped and changed so much in the early days that his team appeared to line up in different formations in each match before the Italian settled for the 4-4-2 interchanging system which we have profited so well from in recent months.

At present however, Juventus are almost unstoppable, dominating possession, scoring a number of goals, and looking lethal in all areas, and the odd adverse result doesn’t appear to affect the morale of the team.

We lost to Inter, and came back firing again, and I fully expect the same to happen when … Read the rest

'Trade him for a bag of balls': fans demand disappointing pair are dropped from United side

Manchester United fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with the form of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial after another lacklustre performance against West Brom at the Hawthorns this afternoon.

Fans on The Peoples Person Facebook page responded to the result by criticising the pair for their contributions, not just in today’s game but in the recent poor run generally.

Comments included:

‘Rashford and Martial need to be left out. Don’t deserve to keep starting.’

‘Rashford needs to be dropped for a few games. Instead of trying to beat four players and doing fancy step overs just pass it on. He’s getting annoying at this stage.’

‘Martial and Rashford should never start together.’

‘It’s time to drop both Rashford and Martial.’

‘Rashford is doing nothing of note in games recently, seems to do the same thing over and over again with no success.’

‘Martial and Rashford again did not contribute to the … Read the rest

Maguire insinuates Klopp partly responsible for United’s changed relationship with referees

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has insinuated that Jurgen Klopp, among “other people from other teams”, has helped to turn officials against his club, as reported by the Echo.

The Red Devils succumbed to a 1-1 draw with West Brom today to hand Manchester City a seven point gap at the top of the table, with the Citizens possessing a game-in-hand to extend the distance.

“Ever since other people from other teams spoke about us we’ve had absolutely nothing from the referee or VAR,” the England international said. “At the moment we’re playing without them so we’ve got to make sure we’re not leaving the game in the hands of the referee or the VAR.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had a penalty given in the second-half, after Maguire was brought to ground by Semi Ajayi, though a VAR review overturned Craig Pawson’s decision.

“You never know” – Arsenal/Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard discusses his future

While speaking to Norwegian channel TV 2, Martin Odegaard was quizzed on whether he will return to Real Madrid when his Arsenal loan expires.

Odegaard signed for Arsenal on loan for the remainder of the season in January. He had a successful stint with Real Sociedad last campaign, which convinced Zinedine Zidane to keep him around in Madrid. However, such is the competition for places in that area of the field with Los Blancos, he found his game time limited.

A loan was absolutely necessary for Odegaard, with the midfielder finally showing signs of fulfilling the potential he showed as a youngster, which led to Real Madrid signing him in the first place. “The Bianconeri appeared less effective and pragmatic ” Journalist discusses Juventus’ loss to Napoli

Juventus were beaten 1-0 by Napoli in their last league game as they fall further behind in the title race.

A spirited Partenopei side earned the win thanks to a Lorenzo Insigne penalty and avenged their loss to the Bianconeri in the Super Cup.

That was a game that Juve needed to win as they build momentum towards the top of the league table.

They now face an uphill task in their bid to close the gap between them and the two Milan teams.

Italian journalist, Riccardo Cucchi watched the game and observed how Andrea Pirlo’s men struggled against a stubborn Partenopei.

After the game, he took to his Twitter account to remark how Napoli stubbornly defended their advantage for much of the second half.

Juve did try to break them down, but Gennaro Gattuso’s side had an answer for every question asked of them.

Cucchi, however, added that Juve … Read the rest

Man United great sends depressing message to rotated star

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has had his say on Donny van de Beek’s unsettling situation at the club, admitting he feels sorry for the player.

The young Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford during the last summer transfer window but has failed to settle into the starting XI despite his purchase price.

Van de Beek wasn’t an expensive buy but many felt with his potential and the roughly £35m the club spent on him, it meant he’d be a regular starter.

Instead the versatile midfielder has had to settle for a role on the bench and it’s safe to say he hasn’t had the impact he may have liked just yet.

As a pundit, Neville has certainly seen Van de Beek whenever he’s on the pitch so he’s speaking based on experience.

James Milner picks up knock midgame; Liverpool have 10 out injured

James Milner has added to Liverpool’s burgeoning injury list, with the Reds having picked up four injuries in the last week to the 35-year-old, Ben Davies, Divock Origi, and Fabinho.

With the Englishman switched for Thiago Alcantara early in the first-half, the club now has 10 of its players out of action for the foreseeable future.

Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be wanting to pull his hair out, with the latest injury to his trusted Vice-Captain meaning that his side have almost accumulated a team’s worth of sidelined stars.

Video: Jose Mourinho quizzed on Tottenham duo, questions if they’re “physical and mentally ready”

Jose Mourinho has been speaking on the topic of Dele Alli and Gareth Bale after Tottenham’s defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Spurs boss spoke post-match about his players’ tiredness, but that is while neglecting to acknowledge that there are talented players within his ranks that he doesn’t tend to use.

To name a couple – Dele Alli and Gareth Bale.

Both players have found opportunities in the Premier League hard to gone by this term, and speaking after the game, Mourinho offered some insight into why that may be.

Juventus U-23 seal an easy victory against Albinoleffe

Juventus U-23 earned their second league win in a row with a commanding performance against Albinoleffe.

The Bianconeri dictated the match from the start, and opened the scoring with a goal from the playmaker Felix Correia at the 9th minute.

Rade Dragusin – who has become a familiar name for the Old Lady’s supporters after some appearances with the first team – added the second on the 32nd minute.

This was the Romanian defender’s first professional goal, and he also enjoyed a dominant performance at the back according to ilBianconero.

After the half time break, 19-year-old midfielder Filippo Ranocchia added the third goal at the 53rd minute, which ended up sealing the match beyond all doubt.

The final score at the Città di Gorgonzola stadium remained 3-0, as Lamberto Zauli’s men managed to earn all three points on the back of a solid performance.
