(Video) Souness waxes lyrical over ‘extremely gifted’ Curtis Jones; says midfielder could have big LFC future

Curtis Jones’ performance against Sheffield United attracted praise from Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness, who stated that the youngster “could have a big part to play in Liverpool’s future”.

The 20-year-old capped off a confident outing against Chris Wilder’s side with a clinical finish inside the box to open the scoring following a poor clearance.

With injuries having robbed Jurgen Klopp of several key midfielders, including Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, the No.17 has benefitted from an opportunity for a greater number of minutes this term than would have perhaps been available in a normal season.

Nonetheless, Jones has grasped his chance firmly with both hands, with his performances deservedly attracting plaudits – long may it continue.

Former Ballon D’Or winner names Juventus as title winners

Ruud Gullit has claimed that Juventus will still be named champions at the end of the season, despite their current points tally.

The Old Lady currently sit 10 points below leaders Inter Milan, after the Nerazzurri secured a 3-0 win over Genoa this afternoon, but Juve have played a match less at present.

Juventus are currently dealing with an injury crisis, with at least four first-team defenders currently sidelined, as well as Paulo Dybala, Alvaro Morata and Arthur all ruled out.

These absences certainly didn’t help as we suffered with a draw away to Verona at the weekend, but Ruud Gullit isn’t ready to doubt our title credentials just yet.

“My favourite remains Juve,” Gullit, who won the Ballon D’Or after a short time with AC Milan back in 1987, explained in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreInter). “Of course, Inter are in the lead, AC Milan … Read the rest

Man United youngster opens up on his future amid concerning rumours

Manchester United prospect James Garner has admitted he’s open-minded about his future as he continues to enjoy a successful loan spell with Nottingham Forrest.

The young midfielder is one of those expected to have a bright future and many fans see him as Michael Carrick‘s true heir.

Garner hasn’t enjoyed a proper breakthrough under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and instead has been spending his time on loan with Watford in the first half of the season and the aforementioned Nottingham Forrest in this second half.

Given United’s injury crisis in midfield with the likes of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay all out, having the 19-year-old might’ve proven useful at this time.

Fred and Nemanja Matic are the last two natural senior midfielders left and should either one pick up a knock, it could spell trouble for Solskjaer.

Italian sports journalist and self-professed European football expert Carlo Garganese has urged Juventus and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to part ways this summer.
