Koeman’s plans to bring Wijnaldum to Spain faces blow as out-of-favour Barcelona star wishes to remain

Miralem Pjanic has stated his desire to remain with Barcelona beyond the summer, potentially making a move for Gini Wijnaldum this summer more difficult for Ronald Koeman, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Speculation over the Dutchman’s Liverpool future had suggested that the La Liga giant’s coach had hoped to offload the former Juventus star to free up room for the Reds’ No.5.

“Yes, of course, I did not sign for Barca to leave the following year, I signed to make history at a club that had been on my path for many years,” the Bosnia and Herzegovina international told Mundo Deportivo (via the Daily Mail). “They told me that my character and my experience would be vital to grow a generation of young people from La Masia who were climbing very strongly. Balance is essential and I came to provide that balance.”

Asking price set: Liverpool and Arsenal will need to pay £35m to sign Premier League star this summer

The drop-off financially between the Premier League and the Championship can be a lot for relegated clubs to handle, and it leaves them with some big decisions when it comes to keeping the squad together.

There will be release clauses that allow players to go so little can be done about those, but then you also need to get the balance right between raising funds and making sure you have a strong enough squad to challenge again next year.

Sheffield United will face that this summer, and a report from The Sheffield Star has looked at the situation surrounding young Norwegian star Sander Berge.

It’s suggested that he’s attracting interest from Arsenal and Liverpool so that’s likely to turn his head even if they did manage to stay up, but they are determined to hold firm with an asking price of £35m in the summer.

Liverpool target could be snapped up for bargain fee as club forced to cut €40m asking price – BILD

Gladbach are expected to drop their asking price for Denis Zakaria to €20m, as reported by Bild.

The 24-year-old has struggled to build up some consistency for Gladbach since his return from the sidelines.

Arsenal ace speaks out on possible summer transfer after a lack of playing time

Arsenal do have plenty of attacking options, but it still feels like there could be a major overhaul in that area in the next year or two.

Aubameyang is the undisputed starter when everything is going well but he’s had some discipline and form issues, while he’s also getting into his final prime years so he’ll need to be moved on.

Alexandre Lacazette isn’t far behind so a decision will need to be made on him soon, Folarin Balogun could still leave in the summer as his future is unclear and Gabriel Martinelli is always either injured or stuck to the bench.

It’s also easy to forget about Eddie Nketiah who hasn’t really been seen in recent weeks, and a report from Goal has looked at his situation.
