‘Life is too short’ – Man City want to turn the page with UEFA

For years to come, the 2019/20 season which has taken over a year to complete, is bound to be talked about and remembered.

From the enforced suspension of all of the leagues because of COVID-19 to having to condense the end of the season into a period of a few weeks with games every few days, it has been totally unique.

One of the major sporting issues involved a potential Champions League ban for Manchester City after UEFA had accused them of Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches.

An appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport was ultimately successful for the Premier League club, and now chairman, Khaldoon al-Mubarak, wants to draw a line under the matter.

Juventus are living an unprecedented time as they picked a coach with no previous experience and it feels like half the roster is for sale. Therefore, it’s a moment where there are no wrong ideas regarding what the go-to tactic in the upcoming season should be, and one based on a three-man defence makes a lot of sense.

Manchester City is studying ways to sign Lionel Messi

According to the reliable Moisés Llorens of ESPN, Manchester City have their calculators out to see how much it would take to sign Lionel Messi without breaking the financial fair play rules. Bringing the Argentine to the Premier League is no longer considered ‘impossible’.

BMW End Audi’s Record DTM Run

In a race that was all decided by pitstop strategy due to the much warmer track temperatures than yesterday, the BMW drivers Lucas Auer and Timo Glock were the ones who came out on top.

Throughout the race, René Rast & Nico Müller battled each other and were constantly swapping positions with Rast taking the lead in lap two after making full use of DTMs Drag Reduction System. Talking of battles, Glock and Marco Wittmann were another pair of drivers jostling for positions throughout.

Freddie Ljungberg – He’s f**kin’ excellent!

Let’s start with the news that broke yesterday, Freddie Ljungberg is leaving the club and his position as an assistant to Mikel Arteta. He says:

“I have decided to leave my first-team assistant coaching role at Arsenal to progress my management experience. I have been involved with this club on and off since 1998 and am grateful for all the opportunities they have given me both as a player and as a coach.

“I wish Mikel and all the team every success for the season ahead. Thanks also to the fans for their constant support and for always being by my side. I hope we will all meet again soon.”

Evans Denies Rublev Another Speedy Start In 2020

In his third match against Andrey Rublev this year, Daniel Evans recorded his second victory against the Russian to make a winning return to the ATP Tour at the Western & Southern Open on Sunday.

The British No. 1, playing at a career-high No. 28 in the FedEx ATP Rankings, raced through the deciding set to claim a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 victory after two hours and 32 minutes. Evans, who improves to 12-5 this year, has now recorded six Top 20 wins in 2020.

“It was a long one. It was just tough to get rid of him really. He was hanging around,” said Evans. “I played some good tennis and some average tennis as well. I didn’t serve great, but I hung in and got the win.”

Man United fans split over potential striker signing

Manchester United fans couldn’t unanimously decide whether or not Edinson Cavani would be a good signing after reports emerged his contract talks with Benfica fell through.

Journo claims whispers Bayern will drop Thiago for UCL final, with LFC expected to swoop next week

Bayern Munich are reportedly set to drop Thiago Alcantara from their starting team for the Champions League final against PSG.

That’s according to European football expert Jan Aage Fjortoft, who does clarify that these are just rumours and nothing is set in stone.

Joshua Kimmich is said to be preferred over Thiago, with Benjamin Pavard cited as being more suited for a counter-attacking playing style.

PSG are used to having the lion’s share of possession and will force the German champions to be a little more creative when going forward.

Video: Kingsley Coman scores for Bayern against boyhood club PSG in the Champions League final

The deadlock has been broken in the 58th minute of the Champions League final and what a moment it is for Kingsley Coman.

Full-back Joshua Kimmich showed his world-class ability as he controlled the ball before floating a dangerous cross towards the far post.

PSG defender Thilo Kehrer looked lax as he couldn’t contest Coman, leaving the wide man to head the ball into the back of the net.

Coman came through the ranks at PSG before heading to Juventus and then Bayern Munich, the 24-year-old already has quite the trophy cabinet and is one step closer to adding the best competition in club football to that.
