AC Milan looked set to go into half-time at least a goal down having come up against an aggressive Liverpool side at Anfield in the opening 45 minutes.

Liverpool are reluctant to put a timeline on Elliott’s recovery, as was the case with Virgil van Dijk and co. last season, for obvious reasons.

This news comes as a massive boost to Jürgen Klopp and the rest of the team as the 18-year-old was beginning to cement his place in the Reds’ regular starting XI.

As per the above statement via Liverpool’s official website, Elliott suffered a fracture dislocation of the left joint.

GUEST: The shaky – and getting shakier – case for FSG at Liverpool

By Max Gallagher (@maxgallwrites)

The following is a guest article by the aforementioned author – linked above – and is not necessarily a representative of opinions held by anyone at Empire of the Kop…

Recently, I posted a tweet expressing my support for Fenway Sports Group. They are by no means perfect, but I feel they’ve been getting a bit of a hard time lately. The tweet did not go down well. In fairness, I probably deserved more stick. FSG are testing the patience of most Liverpool fans at the moment. And, as we all know, Twitter is the kind of place where if you express your preference for marmite, somewhere a militia will form and threaten to come to your house to cut out your tongue and staple it to your forehead. Nevertheless, I am going to attempt to put an argument together here that John Henry Read the rest

Speaking exclusively to Empire of the Kop post-match, Collymore explained why he thinks Trent will probably “break all the Premier League records” before he hangs up his boots.

Full-backs were fantastic [against Leeds], Trent Alexader-Arnold with another assist. This kid is probably going to break all Premier League records by the time he’s finished – for assists from a defensive position,” the former Liverpool player said.

[He’s] always prepared to support the attack, the thing I love about Trent is there were a couple of times, be it free-kicks or corners, he didn’t beat the Read the rest

While back in his homeland, Hoever gave an exclusive interview to Voetbal International in which he discussed his time at Anfield and Ajax.

What would have happened if I had stayed at Ajax? Where would I be then? I made that choice once when I was 16 and [joining Liverpool] was the best thing for my development at that time,” the youngster mused.

Liverpool given FIFA Brazil ban hope by Pep Guardiola & Mexico decision

As it stands, Liverpool will be unable to field Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino against Leeds United this coming Sunday.

FIFA have agreed to ban the trio – along with many of their fellow compatriots, including Raphinha – after a request from the Brazilian FA.

The problem stems from the failure to release players for international duty, following concerns from within the Premier League regarding South America’s handling of COVID-19.

As reported by the Independent, FIFA have agreed to ban Alisson, Fabinho and Firmino from playing for Liverpool this weekend.

It’s not just Brazilian players impacted, though – the Football Federation of Mexico had moved to block Raul Jiminez from turning out for Wolves against Watford, but they’ve now withdrawn their complaint, as reported by BBC Sport.

Explained: Why Curtis Jones and Neco Williams will be available for UCL selection despite 24-man squad absence

Despite not appearing on Liverpool’s listed 24-man squad for the Champions League group stages, both Neco Williams and Curtis Jones will still be eligible to feature in the competition, as reported by the Echo.

UEFA’s rules regarding B-list players means that the Reds can include the pair (both 20-years-old) in a separate roster for homegrown talents under the age of 21 without needing to register them as part of the 25-man squad.

It means that Jurgen Klopp’s outfit will have cover for the right-back spot (in addition to the left-back position with Kostas Tsimikas) and in the middle of the park.

‘When the contract in Liverpool ends…’ – Klopp mentions club role when questioned on possibility of managing Germany

Jurgen Klopp has once again played coy when questioned on his future, leaving his options open with regard to Liverpool.

The possibility of taking up a national role – in particular, the German national team – has been a constant feature of interviews in his homeland, with the coach suggesting he’d first need time to recuperate from his management of the Reds.

“It’s nice that I’m asked that again and again,” the 54-year-old told RTL (via the Mirror).

“When the contract in Liverpool ends, whatever it will be, I first have to find out what it is like to lead a ‘normal’ life again.

“A year off. I’ve never had that. But I’m deeply relaxed there.”

The former Dortmund boss’ contract is set to expire in 2024, with it remaining unclear whether a further extension will be agreed.

The transfer window slammed shut for the Premier League earlier this week, but Turkish teams are still able to bring in new signings.

Should Liverpool opt to allow Origi an Anfield exit, Jurgen Klopp will surely be left twiddling his thumbs for the next few months.

With Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino as the two clear options at No.9, there wouldn’t be much flexibility offered to the Reds boss.

Liverpool explored turning to Southampton once more to solve midfield vacancy – Goal

Liverpool reportedly explored the option of James Ward-Prowse as a potential midfield signing to fill the gap left by Gini Wijnaldum’s exit earlier in the summer.

This comes from reliable reporter Neil Jones, who noted reports linking the Reds with RB Leipzig star Marcel Sabitzer.

“Liverpool, somewhat surprisingly, opted not to make a midfield signing following Wijnaldum’s exit, preferring to give 18-year-old Harvey Elliott an increased first-team role, and trusting in the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to step up,” the journalist wrote for Goal. “It has been reported that a move for another Leipzig man, Marcel Sabitzer, was explored, but the Austrian ended up joining Bayern Munich late in the window. James Ward-Prowse, the Southampton captain, was also looked at.”

The positive performances of Harvey Elliott and Naby Keita have given Jurgen Klopp food for thought, with the former impressing against Chelsea and Burnley, whilst the latter … Read the rest
