Liverpool target could be snapped up for bargain fee as club forced to cut €40m asking price – BILD

Gladbach are expected to drop their asking price for Denis Zakaria to €20m, as reported by Bild.

The Bundesliga star had attracted interest from Europe’s elite sides, though it is strongly suspected that the player’s long-term knee injury picked up last year, in combination with the financial constraints of COVID-19, has caused the player’s value to drop.

The 24-year-old has struggled to build up some consistency for Gladbach since his return from the sidelines.

As soon as I’m asked if I regret it, I always say no, because if Liverpool came to me at 15, if they like me, they’ll come back later, that’s certain. It’s up to me to be good,” he said.

Former Premier League striker tips Liverpool superstar to leave Reds this summer

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has been tipped to leave the reigning Premier League champions this summer.

Former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips believes the Brazilian is the most likely of the Reds’ world-class front three to depart, should one of them leave.

Speaking to Football Insider, the 47-year-old said Diogo Jota can replace Firmino at Liverpool.

I’ve always said that if any of the front three were to be moved on this summer it would be Firmino and I think it could happen,” he said.

He’s been magnificent for Liverpool and he still is but he hasn’t scored enough goals this season.

Klopp glad to avoid Premier League rivals as Liverpool face Madrid in the quarter finals

Jurgen Klopp has expressed his relief at avoiding fellow Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea in the draw for the quarter finals.

Should Liverpool get past Real Madrid, however, they may not be able to dodge a meeting with a English side for long, as the winner of the tie is set to face either one of Chelsea or Porto in the semis.

“I think we are all the same: Bayern doesn’t want to play Dortmund, for example, because they are from the same country and for us, it was City and Chelsea,” the German told liverpoolfc.com. “If we can avoid as long as possible then you do it, but all the rest, it was clear we would face a tough opponent.”

Real Madrid legend claims Thiago’s poor form is the fault of his Liverpool teammates

Roberto Carlos has claimed that Thiago Alcantara’s teammates are to be blamed for the Spain international’s perceived poor form at Liverpool, as reported by EFE (via Sport Witness).

The No.6 has come under fire for his performances this term, most notably his defensive contributions, with Jamie Carragher having previously labelled the midfielder a “defensive liability”.

“Liverpool used to have the ball to the forwards and Thiago has arrived with his quality, he begins to play and the teammates haven’t adapted to his style of play,” the former fullback said. “The problem isn’t Thiago, it’s the change in style of teammates who were used to playing with long balls.”

Guinea coach lauds LFC star with Zidane-like quality: “We always need his magic and battling spirit on the pitch”

Guinea’s national side coach Didier Six has heaped praise atop the shoulders of Naby Keita, comparing the midfielder’s leadership ability with that of former French star Zinedine Zidane.

The 26-year-old Liverpool man has only recently returned to the fold at Anfield after being ruled out with an ankle injury following the 7-0 rout of Crystal Palace in December.

“In my opinion, Keita has magical feet, and I decided to give him the captaincy because he’s a true leader. He’s never abrasive with his team-mates,” the 66-year-old told FIFA.com. “The way he talks to them is very similar to the way Zidane deals with his players, and he communicates the message in a wonderful way.”
