Liverpool are said to be keen on signing Erling Haaland, but doubt has now been thrown over the Dortmund superstar’s reported release clause.

The Reds are credited with interest in the Norway international by the Daily Mirror, but could be put off by a revelation in today’s edition of BILD.

As covered by CaughtOffside, the reliable German outlet sates Haaland’s release clause is actually ‘in excess of €100m’ (£86.5m), contrary to other reports.

TalkSPORT, while not the most reputable source by any means, do have solid links in the industry and previously claimed the striker has a release clause of £68m which activates next year.

The sensational striker is probably Europe’s most sought-after talent for the upcoming transfer window and it remains to be seen if he will be sold.

Manchester United are allegedly preparing to battle out with Liverpool in the summer for the signing of Leeds’ Raphinha, as reported by Tutto Mercato (via the Daily Star).

The high-flying Brazilian has been in excellent form since the turn of the new year, registering six goal contributions in his last nine Premier League games.

Manchester United face a difficult battle for more reasons than one in their bid to sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be on the lookout for a striker after the downfall of Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani’s age being a factor to consider.

The talented Frenchman was United’s top goalscorer last season but hasn’t looked himself whatsoever since the experienced Uruguayan joined.

Cavani has taken over from the striker position and has looked remarkable so far but as good as he has been, he’s not a long-term solution.

That is where Haaland comes in but not only is he surely going to be an expensive buy but the list of clubs keen on signing him will make it remarkably difficult for the Red Devils.

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic by the reliable Gazzetta dello Sport (via the Express).

The Italian outlet claim both the Reds and Manchester United have touched base with the agent of the Serbia international over a potential summer transfer.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already given an indication of his team selection for the side’s next match, which is against Real Sociedad on Thursday.

With United leading 4-0 after the first leg, the boss must be tempted to field a weakened team, especially with a crucial Premier League fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge coming just three days later.

But speaking after the Newcastle game, Solskjaer ruled out the possibility of starting the game with Academy whizz-kids Amad Diallo (18) and Shola Shoretire (17).

‘Probably not Shola and Amad, no. I’m not sure if that would be fair on them [to be picked in the starting line-up]. They’ll be in the squad.’ the manager said.

Michael Owen declared that he felt Chris Kavanagh’s decision to award a penalty in the dying embers of the Merseyside derby was the correct one, as reported by the Daily Star.

The official had been called to the VAR screen to check the replay of the initial foul, after Dominic Calvert-Lewin tripped over Trent Alexander-Arnold in the box.

“I thought it was a penalty as well,” the ex-Red told Premier League Productions. “I think you can see there Trent Alexander-Arnold hooks his leg up, he lifts it up and he almost hooks him down, and I thought it was a penalty as well.”

Manchester United star Edinson Cavani has reminded his teammates he’s always available when needed, in a show of solidarity that fans love to see.

The experienced Uruguayan has proven his worth since arriving at Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised him consistently.

Cavani’s age, injury history and the fact PSG let him run out his contract meant that there were doubts over if he had any more left to give.
