Klopp explains difference between Brewster and Curtis Jones after £23.5m Rhian Sale

Jurgen Klopp has explained how Rhian Brewster’s desire and need for minutes this season was the primary motivator behind his transfer out of Liverpool yesterday.

The striker left for £23.5m, with the Reds insisting a buyback clause is inserted into the transfer that enables us to get him back in three years.

The manager has said that if Brewster was older, he’d happily keep him around – but that the young forward simply needs to play and needs to play now.

Klopp has intimated that while Jones is willing to fight for appearances and be patient, Brewster’s has run out – and after his loan spell at Swansea in which he tore up trees – we can understand why.

“Rhian couldn’t make it here, so far (into the first team),” Klopp said, reported in the Echo.

“That’s pretty much the information. But he has made big steps in his Read the rest

After Travaglia Win, Nadal Ready To Face Player With ‘An Amazing Future’

After dropping just five games to cruise past Stefano Travaglia 6-1, 6-4, 6-0 at Roland Garros on Friday, Rafael Nadal took a moment to praise his next opponent: #NextGenATP American Sebastian Korda.

The 20-year-old, who named his cat after the 12-time Roland Garros champion, admitted he was ‘praying’ for his idol Nadal to beat Travaglia after becoming the first qualifier to reach the fourth round in Paris since 2011. Nadal’s response to hearing of his next opponent’s admiration was to reflect on his own memories of being in a similar position.

“[Being his idol] means that I have been on the TV for such a long time, that’s the main thing. The same like when I was a kid, I was watching Sampras, Agassi, Carlos Moya,” said Nadal. “Another negative thing is that [means] I am 34. That’s another point that is not beautiful… I know he’s playing great. He’s … Read the rest

Now or never: United have less than 24 hours to sign major target

Manchester United could reportedly lose out on Alex Telles as they may not have as much time to sign him as perhaps previously believed.

The FC Porto star has been linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the signing of Sergio Reguilon.

Fabrizio Romano has insisted United have a back-up in line should a Telles deal fall through but he has refused to reveal who.

Fans are particularly frustrated with this deal failing to be concluded so far simply because of how straightforward it looks on paper.

Telles has a year left on his current deal, Porto are willing to sell and the player is open to the move and yet now it seems as though it could all end poorly.

‘Edwards is a ninja…’ Many LFC fans react on Twitter as Arsenal journalist ‘baffled’ by genius of Liverpool’s sporting director

Liverpool are set to sell Rhian Brewster to Sheffield United for £23.5m, which considering he’s never played a Premier League minute for us, is pretty good business!

We also have inserted a buy-back clause, meaning if he fulfils his undeniable potential, we’ll be able to bring him back for a fair fee.

In the next few days, Liverpool also hope to cash in on Marko Grujic – and are also close to selling Xherdan Shaqiri as well. If all goes to plan, Harry Wilson will be off as well, providing a potential buyer coughs up what LFC want.

We’ve already sold Dejan Lovren and Ki-Jana Hoever – making a small profit on Ovie Ejaria to Reading as well.

If we get those three players out the door, Liverpool could well finish the transfer window with a negative net spend, which is unbelievable considering we’ve brought in three players who … Read the rest

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has faced few problems at Roland Garros, cruising into the third round at the clay-court Grand Slam on Thursday for the 15th consecutive year.

Djokovic beat Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 in one hour and 23 minutes to improve his 2020 record to 33-1. The Serbian star, who recently won the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, has won 16 of 17 sets on clay this season.

This is Djokovic’s 70th Roland Garros win, moving him into a tie for second-most all-time alongside Roger Federer. Only Rafael Nadal (95) has more.

“Grand Slams are obviously
the biggest tournaments in our sport. Historically, they count the most. So of course winning that
many matches [at] each Slam is a great achievement,” Djokovic said. “Of course it makes me proud, makes me happy.”

Romano delivers brutal blow to Man United's striker options

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has delivered Manchester United fans a blow in regards to their hopes to see a new striker at Old Trafford with Luka Jovic being ruled out.

Real Madrid were believed to be keen on loaning out the powerful forward as they look to develop him further before seeing him flourish in Spain.

Jovic transferred to the La Liga giants after an impressive stint at Eintracht Frankfurt but he’s failed to perform at the same level since.

Karim Benzema has been Madrid’s go-to man and so it had looked like as though they were willing to temporarily offload the Serbian striker.

However, that no longer seems to be the case and United, who were offered Jovic, must now consider alternatives.
