(Video) ‘Very sensitive, Jesus…’ Keane’s sarcastic comments on Klopp moments after being Alpha’d by Reds boss

Roy Keane had denied calling Liverpool’s performance ‘sloppy’ after Jurgen Klopp sent for him during the post-match interview – but then made a sarcastic comment once the Liverpool manager had walked off.

“Very sensitive, Jesus. Imagine if he lost,” Keane said – but his rhetoric before Klopp began his interview was that our win was a scrappy, sign of the champions type victory.

It wasn’t – it was an incredible outing against one of the best sides in the country. If we can do that without Thiago, and especially off the back of Manchester City being so appalling at the weekend, then Liverpool are on to a very good thing this season.

Keane can carry on writing us off at his peril, but he should avoid any dinosaur, Richard Keys type punditry in front of Klopp – and probably will now – too.

The Great Equaliser At Roland Garros: The Weather

With Roland Garros beginning in late September instead of May due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are inevitable differences at the tournament this year, one of them being the weather.

In the cold and wet Paris conditions — it was less than 60 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday — players are doing their best to put themselves in the best position to play well on court. Alexander Zverev, competing in his first tournament since making the US Open final on hard courts, has adjusted his equipment for the cooler clay.

“I’m stringing three kilos less than I did in New York,” Zverev said, referencing his racquet’s string tension. “That’s quite a lot.”

That is nearly a seven-pound difference in tension, making the stringbed looser to create a “trampoline effect”. The looser a racquet’s strings, the more power a player gets. The tighter the stringbed, the more control and spin a player … Read the rest

More misery: Yet another insulting Man United offer for brilliant player turned down

Manchester United have reportedly had a bid for FC Porto’s Alex Telles turned down as they appear no closer to signing him.

The Brazilian defender quickly became Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s preferred target for the summer after Sergio Reguillon moved to Tottenham Hotspur instead.

Real Madrid insisted on having a buy-back clause in the deal and the London club accepted their terms, unlike United.

It was clearly a sticking point for Solskjaer and time will tell whether Spurs were right to accept such a transfer or not.

Nonetheless, Telles seems to be another player who may escape his clutches unless the Red Devils act fast.

It’s understood Porto’s number is closer to €20-25m so it makes sense they wouldn’t … Read the rest

Former Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge linked with surprise Premier League return

Daniel Sturridge left Turkish side Trabzonspor earlier this year via mutual agreement to end his contract in light of a four-month ban for breaching regulations.

The former Liverpool star is now being linked with a return to the Premier League to solve Chris Wilder’s striker problem at Sheffield United.

The Blades are said to be in the market for a new forward this summer, and have been linked with a move for Rhian Brewster – but Sturridge has now entered the conversation.

MORE: Rising stars like Curtis Jones are “in the best hands” at Liverpool, says Jurgen Klopp

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim the former England international feels as if he has ‘unfinished business’ in the Premier League.

The 31-year-old has been training with non-league side Kidsgrove Athletic, a club located near his home, as he gets ready to go again.

Sturridge has struggled with injuries … Read the rest

Specialized layers up with new Trail-Series collection tailored to keep you warm & dry

Every year at this time it seems that we start wondering where the summer went, but for 2020 this is particularly true. Fortunately, it’s still pretty warm outside, but it won’t be long until that’s no longer the case (or already the case depending on your location and elevation). Also an annual occurrence is the […]

Scouting Report: 10 Things To Watch At Roland Garros

Roland Garros was rescheduled to begin in September this year, but the anticipation is as high as ever for the clay-court Grand Slam. Twenty-eight of the Top 30 players in the FedEx ATP Rankings lead the way in Paris, with World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and 12-time champion Rafael Nadal topping the field.

ATPTour.com looks at 10 things you should watch for in the coming fortnight:

1) Novak Goes For Second Career Grand Slam: Djokovic has been the best player of 2020. He will try to maintain that momentum as he bids to become the first man in the Open Era to complete the Career Grand Slam twice (Emerson and Laver also did it, but not entirely in the Open Era).

Djokovic, who won a record 36th ATP Masters 1000 trophy at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, completed his first Career Grand Slam in Paris four years ago. Djokovic opens against … Read the rest

'In for a long season'- Man United fans react to narrow Brighton win

Manchester United fans were split over the result over Brighton & Hove Albion after what was a superbly dramatic match.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would’ve been hoping for an easy win over the Seagulls but it proved to be anything but that.

United were labelled as lucky after Brighton hit the post or crossbar five times and missed multiple big chances.

Solskjaer’s men certainly rode their luck at times but the 3-2 scoreline describes what kind of match it was itself.

The Red Devils will need to do better against more difficult opposition and it’s clear they’re struggling to get their fitness back.

Alisson admits Liverpool’s level dropped in 2020 – but says we’re back in the groove now

Liverpool’s level is so high – and the standard the team expects of itself so crazy – that Alisson has suggested our performances were not good enough at the end of the Premier League season in which we strolled the title and racked up 99 points.

And when you consider we won 26 and drew just once in the opening 27 games, they probably were not!

Against Chelsea though last time out we strolled to a 2-0 win – and the signs were very good. Our backline looked secure, the midfield controlled and the attackers were electric.

Alisson saved a penalty, too.

“We know that we dropped a little bit, we don’t know why,” he told Sky Sports. “It wasn’t something we wanted to do but we knew we had to go back to our path if we want to be competitive this season for the title, because I Read the rest
