Newcastle and Aston Villa among multiple PL clubs set to fight for Brewster, but Rhian wants to be ‘the striker’ at Liverpool

What to do with Rhian Brewster this season…?

The youngster is currently enjoying the pre-season training camp in Austria, and will likely get minutes in the summer friendlies before the September start of the new campaign.

But it would not be beneficial for the 20-year-old to spend 2020/21 with our U23s, as he proved during his loan spell with Swansea that he’s now too good for that level – scoring 11 goals in 22 appearances in the Championship.

According to Goal, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Brighton have all asked the Reds about a season-long loan deal for Brewster, but the player himself would prefer to stay…

“Ultimately, I want to be at Liverpool next season,” he told The Beautiful Game podcast recently. “I want to be fighting for a spot to play.

“Who is not going to want to play at the home of the Read the rest

Wawrinka Passes Opening Test In Prague

Stan Wawrinka was made to work, but the former World No. 3 completed a successful return to competition at the ATP Challenger Tour event in Prague. Wawrinka resumed his 2020 campaign with a gritty 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 win over Roman Safiullin on Monday afternoon.

In his first competitive match since the professional circuit was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Swiss needed one hour and 51 minutes to move past Safiullin. He converted six of 13 break chances and fired five aces to prevail.

After nearly six months on the sidelines, Wawrinka acknowledged that while it wasn’t easy, he’s happy with his performance in the deciding set.

“It was as expected, after six months being out,” said Wawrinka. “I came here to find some rhythm and check where I am. I’m happy for the victory for sure. There’s a lot of work to do, but the most important thing … Read the rest

Stunning statistic shows why Rashford declined in second-half of season

Manchester United fans are probably still licking their wounds following their loss to Sevilla and Marcus Rashford was one of the players who couldn’t save his team.

The talented Englishman faced some criticism from his fans as his form after football resumed has been sketchy, to say the least.

Rashford was United’s saviour in the first half of the season and was arguably their standout performer, putting in talismanic displays match after match from the left-wing.

However, his season was brutally interrupted by a long-term injury and he was not meant to play any part in the remainder of the campaign.

The global health crisis and temporary suspension of the league meant Rashford would be able to recover in time but he has been a little disappointing.

Scholes makes ridiculous point about Manchester United’s spending as LFC’s rivals crash out

Manchester United spend more money than any other club, bar Manchester City.

That is a fact, too. In the past five seasons, only their local rivals have spent more.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, Romelu Lukaku, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Fred, to name but a few, have arrived for monstrous money.

But Paul Scholes thinks the only way forward for his former side is to spend some more!

He made these comments on BT Sport last night as Sevilla knocked United out of the Europa League – and naturally there was an online backlash…

Liverpool finished 33 points ahead of United in the Premier League after spending nothing last summer.

We think United will probably splash plenty of cash once again – but this won’t change the fact Ole-Gunner Solskjaer is th manager, David de Gea the keeper and Maguire the centre-half!

Shaqiri hints at Liverpool stay in new interview: “It’s going to be an exciting season”

Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri has hinted that he may stay with the Reds for the upcoming season, after reports linked him with a move away.

The Swiss international joined the reigning Premier League champions from Stoke City in 2018 and has been a very useful squad player since.

Jurgen Klopp surely wouldn’t want to lose a player of Shaq’s quality, and his latest interview with LFC journalist Glenn Price suggests he’s staying.

Everybody is excited to play again and to defend the season we had last season,he told the club’s official website while on training duty in Austria.

It’s very difficult but we try to achieve again a lot of things and we want to win a lot of games. We have the capacity, we have the team who is still hungry and wants to win many titles.

Man United and Solskjaer get plans for the summer going with latest deal

Manchester United have announced academy graduate Tahith Chong has joined Werder Bremen on loan for the 2020/21 season.

Chong joined United from Feyenoord in 2016 and has been limited to just 16 appearances in all competitions since being promoted to the first team in 2018.

The winger, 20, signed an improved contract in March, keeping him with the club until the end of the 2022 season.

Negotiations between the two European clubs concluded after a decision was reached over how the player’s wages will be split.

Given the current transfer market, many teams who do not have the same financial power of a club like United will be looking at … Read the rest

Review: Tumbleweed’s radical moto-inspired, mountain touring Persuader handlebars

My partner recently picked up a pair of Tumbleweed Bicycle Company’s Persuader handlebars to potentially put on her gravel bike as part of a flat-bar conversion. After they sat in the parts bin, piquing my interest every time I walked past, I decided to throw them on my Specialized Chisel hardtail mountain bike. More recently […]
