Six clean sheets in 12: Solskjaer has solution to major problem sitting under his nose

Manchester United completely outclassed Spanish side Real Sociedad in the Europa League Round of 32 first leg this evening, winning the game 4-0, but it could have been a different story had substitute goalkeeper Dean Henderson not pulled out an excellent save early in the first half.

The keeper exuded confidence throughout the game and stamped his authority in the second half with an excellent commanding punch to clear his lines.

The game in Turin was Henderson’s sixth clean sheet of the season – from 12 games, giving an average of 1 clean sheet every two games.

By contrast, first choice keeper David de Gea has managed nine clean sheets this term from 27 games – an average of 1 in 3.

It could be argued that Henderson has played ‘easier’ games, such as EFL and FA Cup ties, while De Gea has played the majority of Premier League and … Read the rest

Liverpool given free run at Premier League star as Man Utd ruled out – reports

Earlier this week it was reported that Manchester United had expressed an interest in Leeds United star Raphinha, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari claims the Red Devils will rival the Premier League champions for the Brazilian this summer, but this has been disputed.

According to the well-sourced Stretty News, United have no interest in making a move for Raphinha and reports stating otherwise are just piling on the ‘media hype’.

With our bitter-most rivals not having a horse in the race, and no other clubs said to be expressing interest, Liverpool could get a free run at the Leeds star.

Man United face fight with European giant for surprise target

Manchester United are reportedly keen on Norwich City’s Max Aarons, though they will have to fight for his signature according to Fabrizio Romano.

It’s been said in the past that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka after seeing the success of what bringing in Alex Telles has done for Luke Shaw.

The former Southampton man is currently playing the best football of his career and is edging closer and closer to meeting his potential.

Wan-Bissaka has had good and bad spells this season, leaving those at United to consider he may need competition for his spot.

Brandon Williams is his current backup but the youngster hasn’t featured much this season, seemingly taking a step back in his career.

‘My heart went out for him’ – Lawrenson sympathises with Kabak over ‘difficult start’ to Liverpool career

Mark Lawrenson has expressed sympathy with Ozan Kabak over the Turk’s rough start to his Liverpool career in the 3-1 loss to Leicester at the weekend.

Nonetheless, the pundit did admit that he was prepared to give the on loan Schalke man the benefit of the doubt based on the impressions of those who have watched the defender ply his trade in the Bundesliga.

“He was comfortable, but don’t forget that he’s not playing with an experienced centre-back who is going to talk him through it,” the former Red told the Off The Ball YouTube channel (via HITC). “My heart went out for him, because if he’s alongside even Matip, let alone van Dijk or Gomez he skates through it, and it was just a difficult start for him.”

“But everybody tells me that’s seen him play in Germany that he’s going to be a proper player, so Read the rest

No new discussions: Neville slams this aspect of Man United's defence

Manchester United great Gary Neville has explained his former side’s problems in defence, admitting he’s not a fan of the current partnerships.

While it’s easy to see why some fans may feel the team need more goals or creativity upfront, it’s actually their defensive woes that are currently holding them back.

United have scored more goals than any side in the league and given how their players have the potential to get better, the future is bright in that regard.

Defensively, however, they have regressed, conceding more goals this season at this stage than they have done in the last campaign.

The Red Devils clearly need to do better and fans have long called for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to change the partnerships at the back to get some solidity once more.

According to Sky Sports, Neville said on Monday Night Football: “Lindelof’s problem is Maguire and Maguire’s problem is … Read the rest

Statistic shows there's a bigger problem for Man United after West Brom draw

Manchester United fans are right to be concerned with their side’s recent form, especially after what it meant to draw with West Brom.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men conceded early and battled to a 1-1 tie but it was certainly not enough to allow them to catch their fierce rivals and league leaders Manchester City.

To make matters worse, the draw almost drags United back down to a top-four race rather than sitting comfortably in second place.

While some supporters’ reactions were a little over the top, the tie with West Brom isn’t an isolated incident and the statistic below shows why.

The Red Devils’ form has dipped ever since being the league leaders themselves and Solskjaer must address this problem fast or face a battle for his career.
