How Did Felix & Co. Handle Not Having Fans?

#NextGenATP Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime finished off his 6-4, 6-1 victory on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Western & Southern Open when his opponent, big-hitting Nikoloz Basilashvili, smothered a forehand return into the net.

There was no loud eruption of cheers from the Court 17 crowd at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. There was no crowd at all. Auger-Aliassime typically throws the ball he has in his pocket to a fan, but not this time.

“It was weird… I actually threw a ball at my coach,” said Auger-Aliassime, who was the first player to advance to the second round.

Auger-Aliassime briefly looked around as he normally would, seemingly ready to wave to the crowd. He then changed course and gave the on-court camera a quick thumb’s up and a fist pump before walking to the corner of the court to retrieve his towel.

Man United could have head turned by talented midfielder's availability

Juventus star Aaron Ramsey may be available for a transfer according to reports and that news may perk up some ears at Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer himself hasn’t been linked with the Welsh midfielder but his side have long held an interest.

Ever since it was clear Ramsey was going to leave Arsenal, United were said to be keen but it was the Italian giant who pounced on the opportunity to sign him for free.

Given how Solskjaer is said to be on the search for a creative midfielder, the transfer might be a bit of a natural one.

However, the report doesn’t claim the Red Devils are keen on him so there may be nothing to the former Arsenal man’s apparent availability.

According to Give Me Sport, Gazzetta Dello Sport report that Juventus are looking to make some sales this summer and so Ramsey could be available … Read the rest

So your kid loves racing? Let’s pick a safe first car

If your kid has followed in your footsteps and developed a love of watching F1 when the time comes to get them their first car, you might be feeling a bit nervous about their safety. Most kids don’t copy what they see on TV, but it’s essential to make sure that they get a ride that will allow them to have fun and nurture their love of automobiles while being sensible. If that sounds like something you need a little help with, make sure to look at the following first-time cars.

VW Golf

The VW golf is a classic first car. It’s practical, has excellent performance, and (especially the GTI models) can be great fun. The GTI model can be as fun as most sports cars, but if you are prioritizing safety, you might want to just pick a standard model as it can be a bit too quick, especially … Read the rest

Murray: 'There Will Be A Lot Of Upsets'

Andy Murray flew into New York with a degree of trepidation, but his concerns have eased ahead of the Western & Southern Open.

Initially staying at a house in Greenwich, Murray moved to the hotel a few days ago and has been pleasantly surprised by the work the United States Tennis Association has undertaken to ensure the players’ stay is as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The USTA have done, in my opinion, an excellent job of setting everything up. They’ve done a really good job at the hotel, They got games and arcades and things like that, which I enjoy. [I’m] still a bit of a child in that respect. They’re putting on different food in the evenings for the players. We can get delivery. [The] room is absolutely fine. You have a gym there. I had considered staying in a house.

“I would say going into … Read the rest

LFC predicted XI v. Stuttgart: Big rotation expected as Shaqiri, Ox and Origi miss training

Liverpool duo Xherdan Shaqiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could miss out on the friendly match this weekend against VfB Stuttgart.

The German outfit is Jurgen Klopp’s hometown club and were an obvious option for an exhibition match, as they’re in the area.

But eagle-eyed Liverpool fan Jack Sear spotted that neither Shaqiri nor Ox were training with the squad today in Austria.

He does appear to be right, but the claim that neither were present in training yesterday as well is false – they were both pictured at the training camp.

Divock Origi was also absent, but he hasn’t trained with the squad for a few days now.

With that considered, it’s probably safe to … Read the rest

Can Mercedes Win The Formula One Rubber Match?

Without question, Mercedes is again the dominant team in Formula One. They have the best cars, the best crews, the best engineers and the best drivers, led by six-time world driving champion Lewis Hamilton.

Evidently, there’s one area where there are sadly lacking and it’s a vitally important element to auto racing success. Mercedes is losing the rubber match to its closest competitors.

Tires are shredding on their cars and it’s threatening to endanger their chances of continuing their dominance of F1.

Hamilton and teammate Valtteri Bottas ran 2-3 behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the most recent F1 race, the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone but tire blistering was a problem for both drivers.

Hamilton was victorious in the previous race, the British Grand Prix, also at Silverstone. However, he was forced to nurse his car to victory after suffering a puncture to his left front tire while … Read the rest
