BREAKING: Lionel Messi wants to leave Barcelona now

We all knew it had to happen eventually but not like this. According to the latest reports essentially from all the reliable Catalan journalists, Lionel Messi wants to leave Barcelona now.

The message was apparently faxed through to the club executives and the Argentine’s decision is final and seemingly irreversible. Not only that but this is it for him at the club. He won’t attend the testing nor the training sessions before the start of the new season with the team.

Multiple sources are stating that Messi wants to leave Barcelona through the exit clause in his contract that allows him to walk for free. Even though it was stated that the said clause had expired on June 10, Messi believes it can be extended due to the season being prolonged.

The club have reportedly confirmed his message and are now having an emergency meeting. Josep Maria Bartomeu and … Read the rest

KYB Team JC Takes the Maiden Win in the World RX With Ekström

The new for 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship team KYB Team JC run by the JC Raceteknik team with the team manager Joel Christoffersson made their World RX debut at Höljes last weekend and claimed a podium on the opening-round and took a win on the second round.

The team runs two former EKS and Audi Sport built Audi S1 EKS RX Quattro supercars with the reigning European Rallycross champion Robin Larsson behind the wheel. Currently the 2016 World RX champion Mattias Ekström is replacing Janis Baumanis who couldn’t participate in a full-season due to financial problems caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Ekström, the founder of the EKS team that run the cars in the World RX previously, claimed a second place in the opening-round as he couldn’t find a way pass the double World RX champion Johan Kristoffersson who won the race.

‘I trust the people around me and the guys working on my car’ – Sebastian Vettel

Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel has stated how he feels it is unfair to label his performances based on different races or seasons, due to the extent of how many races there are in a current F1 season. Seb has been struggling so far this year, claiming only sixteen points in the opening six races, his worst start to a season since his first full season with Toro Rosso in 2008.

Speaking to Autosport, Sebastian Vettel explained how he did not think it was right to label his performances based on races or seasons based on his performances.

Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc has faired better fortune with the complicated SF1000, claiming podium finishes in Austria and Silverstone and accumulating forty-five points in the process.

Leaving Ferrari at the end of the year as he makes way for Carlos Sainz, Sebastian Vettel noted how he has been struggling with a … Read the rest

Isner Strikes 35 Aces, Leaves It Late For Win

Former finalist John Isner left it late, but advanced at the Western & Southern Open in a 4-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(5) win over John Millman that could have gone either way on Monday afternoon.

Millman, who wasn’t broken throughout the encounter over two hours and 48 minutes, recovered from 15/40 at 3-3 in the deciding set and later led 4/2 in the tie-break, but Isner’s consistency and weight of shot reaped dividends.

Isner fired down 35 aces and won 80 per cent of his first-service points — compared to Millman’s 85 per cent — to extend his ATP Head2Head record to 4-0 against the Australian, who’d been looking to reach an ATP Masters 1000 third round for the first time. Isner, the No. 16 seed and 2013 runner-up, completed victory with a powerful forehand winner and next faces fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center … Read the rest

Serie A giant willing to 'throw everything' to sign Man United star

Manchester United star Chris Smalling has been handed a new lifeline in his desire to join Roma according to reports.

The England international wanted to remain in Italy after a successful loan spell but ended up returning to Manchester.

United were said to be not impressed with Roma’s offers to sign Smalling and so decided to recall him, though it’s unclear whether that’s to sell him elsewhere or to use him for the next season.

However, it seems the Serie A side have not given up on the experienced defender just yet and that could see a deal happen, particularly under new owners.

The towering centre-back left last season due to the lack of game time that was promised and it doesn’t seem as though his situation at Old Trafford has changed at all.

According to Sport Witness, Il Tempo report that Roma’s new owners believe Smalling is the … Read the rest

Arsenal signing is like Van Dijk with ‘the interceptions, the positioning’ says coach

Arsenal fans have extremely high hopes for William Saliba, the Frenchman who will now be available for selection after a year on loan at St. Etienne.

The teenager is prodigiously talented and cost a fortune 12 months back, and his former youth coach Jean-Luc Vannuchi has gone as far as comparing Saliba to both Raphael Varane and Virgil van Dijk!

“My first impression was that this was the biggest man of his generation,” Vannuchi told The Daily Telegraph. “The difference between him and the other players was massive.

“When he took the ball and ran into midfield, no one could stop him. He was like a monster compared to the others. When he played with St-Etienne it looked normal for him, even though he was so young.”

“A mix of the two styles,” Vannuchi added. “Like Varane because of his speed and power, and with Van Dijk it is Read the rest

‘Life is too short’ – Man City want to turn the page with UEFA

For years to come, the 2019/20 season which has taken over a year to complete, is bound to be talked about and remembered.

From the enforced suspension of all of the leagues because of COVID-19 to having to condense the end of the season into a period of a few weeks with games every few days, it has been totally unique.

One of the major sporting issues involved a potential Champions League ban for Manchester City after UEFA had accused them of Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches.

An appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport was ultimately successful for the Premier League club, and now chairman, Khaldoon al-Mubarak, wants to draw a line under the matter.

“Life is too short to carry grudges,” he said to Manchester City’s official website and cited by BBC Sport.

“It is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of sports … Read the rest

Announcement: Making the case for the return of a three-man defence

Juventus are living an unprecedented time as they picked a coach with no previous experience and it feels like half the roster is for sale. Therefore, it’s a moment where there are no wrong ideas regarding what the go-to tactic in the upcoming season should be, and one based on a three-man defence makes a lot of sense.

I am not a massive fan of the more crowded back-line and, with Andrea Barzagli retired and Giorgio Chiellini on his last legs, it is no longer the crutch it used to be in difficult moments. It would have to be rebuilt and the players that are not used to it will have to be indoctrinated accordingly. It would take some time, butexplosive defenders like Matthijs De Ligt and Merih Demiral should have no issue learning it quickly. Leonardo Bonucci is way better in it, as he has to do less man-marking

Manchester City is studying ways to sign Lionel Messi

According to the reliable Moisés Llorens of ESPN, Manchester City have their calculators out to see how much it would take to sign Lionel Messi without breaking the financial fair play rules. Bringing the Argentine to the Premier League is no longer considered ‘impossible’.

Manchester City knows that the operation is very complicated, but they are studying the feasibility to be prepared in the event that he finally decides to leave Barcelona and that the Catalan club agrees to negotiate his departure for a reasonable price.

Messi ends his contract in 2021 and last week he had met Koeman to inform him that he has doubts of continuing at Barcelona after the disappointments in the Champions League against Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Rome.

The 33-year-old demanded changes at the club, and even though Quique Setién got replaced with Ronald Koeman, it seems that bigger changes with a convincing sporting … Read the rest
