Jordan Henderson on the ‘different qualities’ he brings to the ‘Fabinho role’ when filling in for him in the Liverpool team

Fabinho looks set to return to the Liverpool team for the Champions League final but Jordan Henderson is confident he can fill in for the Brazilian.

Speaking with Sky Sports, the 31-year-old said: “It’s a different role altogether, but I’ve played that role for a number of years now. I’ve played it a lot this season and also over the past four or five years really. I’ve played in big games in that role.

“Yes, you do have to adapt, but that is because of the position and the role that it is.

“All that could go wrong has gone wrong” – Arsenal legend bemoans “abysmal” Gunners collapse

Arsenal legend Michael Thomas has bemoaned the Gunners’ collapse as they now look set to miss out on the top four.

Back-to-back defeats for Mikel Arteta’s side against Tottenham and Newcastle United have all but ended the club’s hope of qualifying for the Champions League.

It now requires a massive stroke of luck for Arsenal on the final day of the season, with Arteta’s side needing to beat Everton, who are fighting for their lives just above the relegation zone, whilst also hoping for an unlikely win for Norwich City over Spurs.

Arsenal hero Thomas is certainly disappointed with how it’s played out, describing the performance at Newcastle in particular as “abysmal”.

“All that could go wrong has gone wrong,” Thomas told CaughtOffside. “The decisions didn’t go the way we needed against Tottenham and the performance was well below par. Spurs didn’t have to be great to win the … Read the rest

‘Definitely not’ – Jurgen Klopp provides fitness update on Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk ahead of final three games of the season

Jurgen Klopp was able to provide Liverpool supporters with an update on the fitness of Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

Speaking with the media ahead of the Southampton game, the 54-year-old provided news on both men: “No. Virg definitely not [ready for Southampton] but that was pretty much clear before the [Chelsea] game already that I thought, ‘OK, this is the game now.’ He played really a lot and then Saturday-Tuesday again. It was clear.

“They are both OK. So, the target would be for both that they can be involved again on the weekend. Properly involved, bench or whatever and a few minutes or start, I don’t know, we will see that, because that would then be perfect for the game [Champions League final].

Ex-Red Devil names four most disappointing Manchester United players this season

Former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick has picked out four of the club’s most disappointing performers this season.

It’s been a miserable campaign at Old Trafford with the club missing out on a place in the top four and once again failing to win any trophies.

This saw Man Utd sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier in the season, but interim manager Ralf Rangnick hasn’t done much better since coming in.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside, Chadwick made it clear he felt that the whole squad has to take responsibility for this poor season, with a few names in particular standing out as disappointing.

“It’s unfair to single out any individual. The squad as a whole really needs to take responsibility. It doesn’t seem right to say someone’s been worse than the rest, if results aren’t going well it’s a collective responsibility. I don’t think any of the players have performed … Read the rest

After clinching our eighth FA Cup, all the players returned to the dressing room to celebrate with the trophy and each other.

Arsenal looking to beat Juventus to Serie A attacking full-back by making player swap offer

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Udinese attacking full-back Nahuel Molina.

That’s according to a recent report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, who claims Juventus have already made their interest in the young Argentine known but the ‘Old Lady’ now face competition from Mikel Arteta’s Gunners.

Molina, 24, joined Udinese in 2020 following a free transfer from South American side Boca Juniors.

Since then Molina has shone under manager Gabriele Cioffi, who has often deployed the 24-year-old as a more right-sided attack-minded winger.

Having featured in 34 Serie A matches so far this season, the Argentina international has reached double figures when it comes to direct goal contributions.

Alan Shearer praises ‘sensational’ 23-year-old Liverpool star for his FA Cup final display

Alan Shearer has praised Trent Alexander-Arnold for his performance in yesterday’s FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

The Academy product put in a superb display to ensure that at the age of just 23, he’s won every single major trophy possible at club level, and the Match of the Day pundit couldn’t help but applaud the scouser.

“I think Trent Alexander-Arnold was sensational today,” Shearer told BBC Sport (via HITC).

“Both defensively and some of his passing was outrageous. For him then to go and stick a penalty away as cool as he did, I thought he was fantastic,” he added.

Often criticsed for his defensive ability, the England international put in a solid showing and helped his side to yet another clean sheet – he also dispatched his penalty with great technique during the shootout

Arsenal’s superb potential XI if they seal double Premier League transfer raid this summer

Arsenal will surely have a busy summer this year, whether they finish in the top four or not.

The Gunners’ Champions League hopes were dealt a major blow after a surprise 3-0 defeat at the hands of rivals Tottenham in midweek, and it’s little surprise that they already seem to be working on strengthening their squad in the summer.

Let’s face it, if Arsenal do hold on and get that fourth spot, they’ll have over-achieved, with this squad not as good as the likes of Man Utd and Spurs on paper, while it’s a long way behind Chelsea, even if the gap between themselves and the team third in the table is now not that big in terms of points.

And if Mikel Arteta’s side bottle it late on and miss out on the top four again, that’ll be even more reason to make the changes required to ensure they’re … Read the rest

European heavyweights have ‘contacted’ Sadio Mane’s agent to potentially replace 34-goal hitman – Christian Falk

Christian Falk has now confirmed that Bayern Munich have contacted Sadio Mane’s entourage after Robert Lewandowski confirmed he would not extend his stay in Bavaria.

This comes courtesy of a tweet from the Bundesliga expert, with the German top-flight champions perhaps hoping to take advantage of the short remaining length of the Senegalese international’s contract.

Along with Bobby Firmino and Mo Salah, the former Southampton ace is set to remain at Anfield until the summer of 2023 (the same expiration date of the Poland international’s contract), though Anfield bosses are reportedly keen on holding on to the winger beyond that point.

Man United’s season summed up after training ground bust up

Two senior Manchester United players were involved in an alleged training ground bust-up this week which sort of sums up the season for the Red Devils.

According to an article ran by Manchester Evening News, an incident took place towards the end of a Man United training session at Carrington on Thursday in which the two unnamed players were set to have clashed with each other, the day United returned to training following a four-day break.

This brought the training session to a premature end and if the players are important for United’s future, this is yet another headache for incoming manager Erik ten Hag to have to deal with.

The Ajax boss will take over from Ralf Rangnick at the start of next season and is tasked with turning  Man United’s fortunes around as the club is miles behind Man City and Liverpool in the English football pecking order.… Read the rest
