Ferrari Vice Chairman explains “unique livery” for Mugello | 2020 Tuscan GP

Our most eagerly awaited moment of the year has arrived as Scuderia Ferrari prepares to tackle the 1000th Grand Prix in its history. Not only that, but this milestone takes place at the Mugello Circuit, the facility owned by the Maranello marque, which gets to host a round of the blue riband category of motor racing for the very first time.

Historic. The Maranello marque has planned several initiatives, starting with a celebratory livery. Over the weekend, the SF1000s will feature a Burgundy colour, which is a faithful reproduction of the shade of red of the very first Prancing Horse Formula 1 car, the 125 F1, which took to the track in the Monaco Grand Prix on 21 May 1950. For the past 71 years Ferrari has been ever present in every year of the championship. Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel will also have special race suits for this unique … Read the rest

Maitland-Niles, Aouar, Guendouzi, and quite large central defenders

Considering the new Premier League season begins on Saturday, it’s all very quiet. The build-up has been pretty low key. Perhaps it might be considered a surprise, but given everything else that has gone on in this cursed year of 2020, it’s fairly low down the list of things which might make our collective eyebrows raise.

I know the Interlull has played a part in that. Usually players aren’t away with their countries in the week before the opening game, but usually there isn’t a global pandemic which has had a massive impact on football fixtures so they’re trying to squeeze in as much as possible in a very short time. Thankfully, the glorious Nations Cup has not had to suffer so we can all get excited about who wins the Nations Cup, if there even is a Nations Cup to play for. Has anyone seen it? Don’t @ me.… Read the rest

Ornstein reveals United’s centre-back plans – fans will be outraged

Manchester United fans will be disappointed to hear their club’s plans for defensive reinforcement in what has been a quiet summer so far.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has brought in just Donny van de Beek from Ajax in a transfer window many expected and hoped would be incredibly busy.

The legendary Norwegian did well in his first full season in charge, finishing in third place and securing Champions League football.

Many felt it meant Solskjaer would be fully backed in the transfer market and while that may eventually be true, it has been frustratingly slow until now.

There are many United fans who feel, amongst other targets, that a new centre-back is needed to take the club to another level but unfortunately that feeling isn’t quite shared by the club.

Liverpool could bide their time and swoop for Thiago in January, according to Sky Sports honcho

Liverpool have been tipped to wait until January to make a move for Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara, with the midfielder able to sign off on a Bosman transfer for next summer.

This suggestion comes from Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol who claims it makes more sense for the Reds to wait than spend millions right now.

Rumour has it Liverpool and Thiago have already agreed on personal terms and it’s now up to the Premier League and European champions to thrash out a fee.

That’s according to very reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has repeatedly stated it’s now up to Bayern and the Reds to close the deal.

Boost for Chelsea as Italian giants more likely to make a move for outcast after latest developments

Even if they can’t manage to attract giant fees for their fringe players, it’s important for Chelsea to get rid of some players after a big summer of spending.

Davide Zappacosta is a player who doesn’t have much of a future at Stamford Bridge, but there wasn’t a lot of interest until recently.

Gianluca Di Marzio indicated that Atalanta had approached Chelsea about taking him back to Italy on loan, but he was only a back up option in case a deal for Roma defender Rick Karsdorp fell through.

The issue with that deal was due to a disagreement over commission payments, but the move to Atalanta now looks even more unlikely after VI reported that Genoa were closing in on a deal for the Roma defender.

The 33-year-old has been on the verge of leaving with his agent-brother having arrived in Turin just days ago to finalise the termination of his deal with the Bianconeri.

Ferrari Head of Race Strategy explains what the plans were for Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc at Monza

The Italian Grand Prix, which had already looked difficult going into the weekend, ended in the worst possible way for Scuderia Ferrari with both cars retiring. Monday after the race was given over to an in-depth analysis of what happened, especially when it came to the failure that led to Sebastian Vettel retiring only a few laps into the race. The Scuderia and Brembo engineers examined all the data and the components and also initiated a test bed programme to replicate the conditions that preceded the retirement to find the cause and this task is still on-going.

In the usual debrief, Inaki Rueda, the Scuderia’s Head of Race Strategy explains what the plans were at the start given the grid positions with Charles 13th and Sebastian 17th.

“As in Belgium the week before, given the outcome of qualifying, there was a free choice of tyre for the start of the … Read the rest

What if nobody leaves? *

* I recognise the headline might be a touch hyperbolic, but it’s just to create the talking point.

So far, Arsenal are struggling to move players on this summer. I read this morning that Fiorentina have ended their pursuit of Lucas Torreira because we won’t lower the asking price of €30m despite the Italian side offering to pay €25m in two installments. Like every transfer story, you take it with a pinch of salt. There are so many outlets these days, so many clicks to be had and all the rest, so it’s more important than ever to apply some critical thinking to what’s being reported.

What seems to be true though is that Torreira wants to leave, but so far nobody has come up with the kind of offer that has been deemed acceptable (although I suspect if there really was €25m on offer we’d have taken it). There … Read the rest

The sensational winger has been of interest to those at Old Trafford for a while now and it’s believed negotiations for his signature have been going on all summer now.

Unfortunately for United fans, no breakthrough has occurred just yet and Sancho remains at Dortmund player, at least for the foreseeable future.

The young Englishman would form the last piece of the puzzle in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stunning attack but getting him to join has proven to be a remarkable challenge.

Nonetheless, supporters have been eagerly awaiting his potential arrival and some became excited at an interesting decision made by Phelan.

Phelan can be found on Instagram now under the above username and fans have noticed how he’s been following Sancho.

It obviously doesn’t guarantee the Dortmund star is transferring … Read the rest

Liverpool are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Rhian Brewster, with the October 5 transfer deadline just over three weeks away.

The young forward has been linked with moves to Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and newly-promoted Fulham in recent months.

That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who claim the Reds are now open to the idea of selling Brewster to raise transfer funds.

It was previously unclear if Brewster leaving Anfield on a permanent basis was an option, but this new report confirms it’s under consideration.
