Dangerous: Mapping out the damage Reguilon could do for United

Manchester United fans have been excited by the prospect of signing Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon and it seems there’s plenty of reasons why.

The Spanish defender’s attacking ability in particular is what supporters want to see more of at Old Trafford.

Luke Shaw is better known for his defensive capabilities than his attacking which was even more evidenced by his occasional performances as a left centre-back for United.

Reguilon would offer something different for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it’s something fans want to see more of from their players.

One of the most important aspects of attacking play from the flanks is a player’s ability to cross, which is brilliantly mapped out below by Twitter account UtdArena.

Carragher predicts huge Liverpool transfer: ‘I think the deal will happen’

Former Liverpool centre-back turned pundit Jamie Carragher thinks that before the transfer window closes, Thiago will have arrived on Merseyside.

The Spaniard has been incessantly linked all summer, but recently spoke out against the rumours and suggested he could stay at Bayern Munich after all.

Carra though thinks it will still happen, and that the delay in the deal is primarily because we are waiting to secure the 29-year-old midfield genius for as much of a bargain as possible.

“I just hope they can get the Thiago deal over the line. If he does come in, I think it will be towards the end of the transfer window and Liverpool trying to get him as cheap as possible […] I think the deal will happen,” he wrote in the Telegraph.

For us, the chance of Thiago signing for Liverpool relies entirely on the future of Gini Wijnaldum.

Photo: Defender drops Man United transfer hint as he removes Real Madrid and follows Old Trafford stars on his social media

Although Man United look pretty solid at left back with Brandon Williams and Luke Shaw, there was still a feeling that they could do with an upgrade in that position, which would also allow Williams to go out on loan.

The Metro reported that Real Madrid full back Sergio Reguilon had been offered to United, and some of his recent social media activity does hint that something might be happening.

It depends how much importance you put in these things, but it’s been noted that he’s started following Man United players on Instagram while he’s also removed Real Madrid from the bio:

It might be making something out of nothing, … Read the rest

Juventus linked with Edinson Cavani

Juventus have been linked with a move for free agent Edinson Cavani as talks for Luis Suarez and Edin Dzeko have reportedly cooled.

The Old Lady are working on freeing Gonzalo Higuain this summer, leaving the strikers position vacant, with Suarez and Dzeko reportedly the  two choices to replace him.

Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca di Marzio reports that the move for Dzeko is essentially ‘blocked’ for now, making him an unlikely option.

Likewise, the move for Suarez is complicated for a host of reasons, not least that he doesn’t have an EU passport, has yet to free himself from Barcelona and could yet remain with the club, now that Lionel Messi has declared his intention to stay

Di Marzio reports that the Bianconeri could now turn their attention to Cavani, who is a free agent, having run down his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite Juve’s supposed interest, reports from ESPN … Read the rest

Mick Schumacher provides ray of sunshine for sad Ferrari

Ferrari junior wins from seventh on grid in Italy for first victory of 2020 and first in an F2 feature race; Schumacher now just behind fellow academy drivers Shwartzman & Ilott in title chase.

Mick Schumacher provided struggling Ferrari with what they described as a “ray of sunshine” amid an otherwise difficult home GP for the Italian team with his first victory of the F2 season.

Mick Schumacher, a member of Ferrari’s driver academy, won his first round in the series last year in a reverse-grid sprint race in Hungary, but Saturday’s success at Monza came in the longer and more significant feature race.

Stretching his run of consecutive podiums to four, Schumacher is now in the thick of the F2 title fight and within three points of two fellow Ferrari juniors – Robert Shwartzman and Callum Ilott, who are tied at the top of the standings.

Oh Dani boy …

Dani Ceballos is back.

The Spanish international’s second loan spell with Arsenal was confirmed last night, and it’s good news for us. We know midfield is an area which requires considerable improvement, and while his re-arrival realistically only helps reassemble what we had last season, I think there are reasons for optimism when it comes to what he can bring during the new campaign.

It’s so difficult to look back on what happened last time around and make definitive judgements on players. The mess we got ourselves into under Unai Emery had a negative impact on the form of almost every single player, bar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bernd Leno. The two ends of the pitch worked, what went on inbetween them really didn’t in any consistent way.

Ceballos started brightly with that performance against Burnley, and then got sucked down into the mire. He picked up a serious injury, he … Read the rest

Man United to be offered chance to sign La Liga defender for free

Manchester United could reportedly have their shot at signing Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti as they continue to look for defensive reinforcements.

The French centre-back has had some good times and some bad times in Spain and it looks like they’ve finally decided to end their ties.

Umtiti’s proneness to injuries appears to have essentially cost him his position at Barcelona, with perhaps their new manager Ronald Koeman not being impressed.

The former Everton boss may have decided to shuffle the deck with many recognising the need for a complete overhaul for the La Liga giants.

The 26-year-old arrived in Spain with high hopes he could be Gerard Pique’s long-term partner in the central of defence but things haven’t quite worked out that way.

According to Manchester Evening News, via Cadena Ser, Barcelona are so desperate to get Umtiti’s wages off their bill that they could let him go for … Read the rest

Klopp provides Henderson fitness update as Liverpool thrash Blackpool in nine-goal thriller

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the fitness of Jordan Henderson as the captain sat out of the Reds’ 7-2 victory over Blackpool.

The midfielder is continuing his recovery from the injury sustained at the tail end of last season that kept him out of the Premier League run-in.

Given the fact that Henderson had resumed training at Melwood, there was an expectation he’d make an appearance against Blackpool this weekend.

The boss has explained that the skipper wanted to play at Anfield, but it simply wasn’t worth risking further injury for a pre-season friendly.

Obviously Hendo was desperate to play a few minutes today as well, but it makes no real sense because he had to do an important session today for him,Klopp told the club’s official site before kick-off.

If he would have played today, 10 minutes or so would Read the rest

Koeman flexes his muscles at Barcelona again ahead of Messi return

The turmoil at Barcelona over the last week since Lionel Messi effectively gave the club his notice only to reluctantly rescind it, is more than enough for the club to deal with.

However, the stark reality away from all of the drama is that the club have a new coach in Ronald Koeman who finds himself under the most intense pressure already without a ball even being kicked in anger.

Indeed, there are still three weeks to go before Barca open their LaLiga account for 2020/21, given their participation in the latter stages of the Champions League.

The Dutchman apparently made it perfectly clear who was boss when he first met with Messi, and ahead of a reunion between the pair at training on Monday, Koeman has metaphorically flexed his muscles once again.

Luis Suarez a step away from Juventus

Spanish newspaper Marca report that Juventus are a step away from signing Barcelona striker Luis Suarez with an agreement having been reached with the club.

The 33-year-old Uruguayan has been closely linked with a move to Turin in recent weeks as a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain.

Marca now report that Lionel Messi’s decision to remain at Barca had fuelled speculation that this may mean a stay for Suarez too, but he is in fact preparing to leave the club.

According to the report, Suarezs’ future is almost certainly with Juventus having reached an agreement on personal terms with the club on a two-year contract with an option for the third, agreeing a salary of €10 million a season, net.

Marca also suggest that the biggest issue now is for Suarez to free himself of his deal with Barca as he understands that he could be entitled to receive the salary … Read the rest
