Five La Liga clubs interested in signing La Masia graduate, Barcelona demand at least €5m

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered an update on the future of Oscar Mingueza. The Barcelona academy graduate has fallen out of favour under Xavi Hernandez, who has deemed him surplus to the requirements ahead of the new season.

Barcelona want to offload him in the summer, with the player himself keen on taking the next step in his career.

Although Mingueza has not been able to establish himself as a first-team regular at Barça, he has no shortage of suitors, with the report mentioning several La Liga clubs keen on the services of the Spaniard, along with two Bundesliga outfits.

The Spanish clubs in question are RCD Mallorca, Celta Vigo, Elche CF, Getafe and Valencia. They have all entertained the possibility of signing the young defender this summer in an attempt to reinforce their options at the back.

They are willing to offer Mingueza regular game-time and help him revive his career following an indifferent spell at Camp Nou.

The Spanish clubs are joined by Bundesliga outfits TSG Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt, who have an excellent record of roping in Spanish talents.

The Europa League champions have brought in the likes of Enrique Herrero Garcia, Fabio Blanco and Lucas Torro in recent years. They had even negotiated a deal to send Blanco to Catalunya last season and are now hoping to use their newfound relationship to rope in Mingueza.

However, the Spaniard favours a stay in La Liga, which puts the likes of Mallorca, Celta Vigo and Valencia, among many others, in pole position to secure his services ahead of the new season.

Barcelona, though, are not too keen on offloading Mingueza on a cut-price deal. They are holding out for a fee of €5 million for the talented defender.

The report suggests Barça’s hefty valuation is slowing down the process of Mingueza’s sale. It does not bode well for the Catalans, who are in a hurry to sell amid ongoing financial crisis.

But with very few Spanish clubs wanting to meet Mingueza’s €5 million demands, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 23-year-old this summer.
