The 20-year-old former Manchester City defender was forced off the field after reporting discomfort owing to a hamstring injury in Barcelona’s 1-1 draw against Granada. Although he did receive some on-field treatment, he was eventually replaced by Clement Lenglet for the rest of the match.
Garcia’s injury now represents a massive challenge for Xavi who is already without as many as eight first-team players. This includes the likes of Ronald Araujo, Sergi Roberto, Frenkie de Jong and Pedri. Although there is some good news on the offensive front, with Memphis Depay and Ansu Fati nearing full fitness.
Barcelona travel to Saudi Arabia next week to face Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup. Who will start alongside Gerard Pique in central defence?
