Papers: ‘Total War’ – Messi wants to go

By now everyone on the planet is aware that Lionel Messi wants to go. He wants to leave Barcelona and feels this is the end of his cycle. Of course, this morning, the papers are focusing exclusively on the Argentine’s decision and the battle with the board that’s on the horizon.

SPORT even call it ‘Total War‘ and it really does feel like it. Messi wants to go and is aiming to terminate his contract through the clause that allows him to leave for free.

The problem is, however, that the club say the clause had already expired so now the parties might go to court. Be that as it may, PSG, Manchester United, Man City and Inter are among the interested clubs.

Mundo Deportivo are saying practically the same thing. They call it the ‘Messi bomb‘ and also highlight the fact that he indeed wants to leave. But again, the issue of the clause arises.

Barça maintain the clause is no longer valid as it had expired on June 10 and they were quick to label the Argentine as ‘untransferrable‘. The board wants him to continue and finish his career at the Camp Nou.

The very interesting part is that Messi apparently called Pep Guardiola a few days back and was asking about the possibility of a transfer to Man City. Barcelona’s captain is also a month away from his 20th anniversary at the club.

Needless to say, this would be a very painful and terribly sad occasion in Catalonia. Is he really going to do it?

Only time will tell but the fans will surely hope he stays.
