26-year-old Barcelona defender has many offers on the table, but is not convinced

Barcelona are expected to offload multiple fringe players in the upcoming summer transfer window, as part of Xavi Hernandez’s major squad overhaul.

Especially in the defensive unit, Barça could offload several unwanted stars, including the central defensive duo of Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti while Sergi Roberto is running out of contract at the end of the season.

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered an update on the future of Lenglet. It appears the Frenchman has received countless offers from other European clubs over a possible move away from Camp Nou this summer.

But none of the offers has convinced Lenglet so far, with the defender ready to wait until the end of the season before resolving his future at the club.

The former Sevilla starlet had the option to leave Barcelona in January. But he opted to remain in Catalonia and wait until the end of the season.

With just five starts in the league this term, it is apparent Lenglet is not highly rated by Xavi Hernandez. The Barcelona head coach has used him sporadically, with the Frenchman even falling behind Oscar Mingueza in the pecking order

As such, Barcelona should hesitate in offloading the defender in the summer. They consider Lenglet’s sale integral in their quest to balance the books following yet another difficult financial year, with La Liga notably reducing the club’s spending limit to a negative figure.

It is certain Lenglet will have to ply his trade elsewhere next season. But with the offers appearing to be unconvincing, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the talented Frenchman, as he looks to take the next step in his career.

Along with Lenglet, Barcelona are also working on the sale of Umtiti, as the club look to make way for newer signings such as Andreas Christensen and possibly, Kalidou Koulibaly.
