Barcelona midfielder contacts former club in hope of accelerating transfer
FC Barcelona’s preseason is just two matches away from coming to an end, but in the transfer market, the Catalans have just but a month to get their intended targets in and their preferred exits out. One name shortlisted to be out of Ronald Koeman’s plans is that of Miralem Pjanic.
As per a report relayed by Mundo Deportivo, the Bosnian midfielder is closer than ever to leaving the Catalan giants. He has reportedly already approached former club Juventus, going even as far as to hold talks with sporting director Federico Cherubini.
The Italian could receive him tomorrow, as Massimilano Allegri has given the go-ahead on his transfer, clearly indicating he wants him back in Turin.
Barcelona themselves have confirmed that the Barça number 8 is the closest player to leaving the club. Given Barcelona are still in their preseason preparations, his future could be decided after the team return from Austria or Germany.
Pjanic’s salary demands were initially a worry for the former Serie A champions, but this will be the case no more. Pjanic reportedly doesn’t consider a reduction of his wages to be a huge issue, if at all. To return to the Bianconneri, he is more than willing to reduce his salary.
The final nail in the coffin would be the departure of at least one midfielder from the Turin based club. The most talked-about name thus far has been that of Welsh outcast Aaron Ramsey, who Juventus had at one point offered to Barcelona during the transfer window.
Either way, it seems the Bosnian is on the first flight back to Italy, with Inter Milan linked to a move as well.
