Barcelona veteran forward will definitely continue at the club next season

For over half a season, Memphis Depay, Luuk de Jong, and Ferran Jutgla were Barcelona’s best bets as strikers. The team was evidently underperforming in front of goal and was in dire need of reinforcements.

In the winter, therefore, Xavi decided to bring in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal on a free transfer. While the move was criticised by the Camp Nou faithful, the Gabonese striker has lived up to the billing brilliantly, scoring nine goals in 14 La Liga games.

He has gained the manager’s full trust, and SPORT reports that he will, undoubtedly, continue at Barcelona next season.

The Catalan giants are looking for a striker in the summer, but the incorporation of a new player will not impact Aubameyang’s retention at Barcelona.

Robert Lewandowski is on top of the agenda for the team, but any move is difficult since his contract ends in 2023. Bayern Munich is under pressure to either sell him in the summer or offer him a renewal worth more than one year.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are ready to put forth a two-plus-one year contract for the Pole’s signature even though he turns 34 this August.

The centre-forward role is a priority signing for Barcelona this summer, and with the summer transfer window yet to open, it is bound to be an interesting one for Cules.
