Stunning statistic shows why Rashford declined in second-half of season

Manchester United fans are probably still licking their wounds following their loss to Sevilla and Marcus Rashford was one of the players who couldn’t save his team.

The talented Englishman faced some criticism from his fans as his form after football resumed has been sketchy, to say the least.

Rashford was United’s saviour in the first half of the season and was arguably their standout performer, putting in talismanic displays match after match from the left-wing.

However, his season was brutally interrupted by a long-term injury and he was not meant to play any part in the remainder of the campaign.

The global health crisis and temporary suspension of the league meant Rashford would be able to recover in time but he has been a little disappointing.

Scholes makes ridiculous point about Manchester United’s spending as LFC’s rivals crash out

Manchester United spend more money than any other club, bar Manchester City.

That is a fact, too. In the past five seasons, only their local rivals have spent more.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, Romelu Lukaku, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Fred, to name but a few, have arrived for monstrous money.

But Paul Scholes thinks the only way forward for his former side is to spend some more!

He made these comments on BT Sport last night as Sevilla knocked United out of the Europa League – and naturally there was an online backlash…

Liverpool finished 33 points ahead of United in the Premier League after spending nothing last summer.

We think United will probably splash plenty of cash once again – but this won’t change the fact Ole-Gunner Solskjaer is th manager, David de Gea the keeper and Maguire the centre-half!

Valencia crisis deepens as players refuse to accept wage deferral

If the sales of Ferran Torres to Manchester City as well as Dani Parejo and Francis Coquelin to Villarreal weren’t a big enough sign that Valencia are once again in crisis, news that players left at the club aren’t being paid is only making a bad situation much worse.

According to Cadena Cope and cited by Football Espana, Valencia’s remaining club captains, Rodrigo Moreno, Jose Luis Gaya and Jaume Costa met with president Anil Murthy to speak about the lack of any form of salary payment since June.

As if that weren’t bad enough, a suggestion that the players accept IOU notes for now, essentially because the payment will be delayed and may not be made at all, hasn’t been received well by the dressing room.

MARCA, cited by Football Espana note the expiry dates of the IOU’s as being September 2021, meaning that it could be up … Read the rest

Arthur Melo to be released early?

A report from Spainish newspaper La Vanguardia suggests Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo will terminate his Barcelona contract early in order to begin training with Juventus.

The 24-year-old refused to return to training with Barca earlier this month, prior to their Champions League elimination at the hand of Bayern Munich.

Initial reports suggested his decision to remain in Brazil would result in a hefty fine and possible sanction from the club, with Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu condemning Arthur’s decision:

“We reached an agreement for him to complete the season here, in both league and Champions League games,

“He is an important player, and he should be here to help the team. But he has made the decision not to come back.

“This is an unacceptable act. This is why we are exploring our options, and will open up a case against him, as there is no justification for his absence.” Source:
