Enrique responds to fan online who tipped Haaland outscore Nunez next season

The signing of Darwin Nunez by Liverpool has many a fan questioning who will turn out to be the more prolific addition to the Premier League out of the Uruguayan and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

After popping the question himself on Twitter, Jose Enrique reminded one supporter that the Norwegian international was also joining from a different league ahead of the next campaign.

The former Benfica man amassed an impressive tally of 34 goals in 41 games, with the latter finding the net on 29 occasions in 30 games (both across all competitions).

Ex-Red explains why Darwin Nunez ‘will be a great signing’ for Liverpool and tips Bobby Firmino to remain a vital player for Jurgen Klopp

Former Liverpool player Michael Thomas has explained why he believed Darwin Nunez will be ‘a great signing’ for the Reds.

The 22-year-old Uruguay international is reportedly set to arrive on Merseyside next week in order to complete his transfer from Portuguese outfit Benfica.

He’s expected to sign a six-year-deal at the club and although he may prove to spearhead the Anfield outfit’s attack for the foreseeable future, Thomas still believes Bobby Firmino will have a ‘role’ to play at the club next season.

“Darwin Nunez has had a really good season for Benfica and all the top teams are looking at him. He will be a great signing,” Thomas told CaughtOffside.

“He has pace, strength and can finish, but let’s not forget he can link up play. The one thing I would say is that he is not a player of the same ilk as a Firmino, who will pick Read the rest

“Singing the national anthem in full flavour, although I have already played for the youth teams, but it’s true that to sing with the first team of France it does something and as I have said I am very happy to make my first appearance.

“It looked like we should have got the victory but now we have to refocus on Croatia, this match is over we cannot do anything about it, we will do the analysis and see what Read the rest

Liverpool are ‘prepared to smash their transfer record’ for Darwin Nunez but face competition from ‘Man United and Atletico’

If Liverpool want to secure Darwin Nunez it looks as though we have a fight for the right price and from other interested parties.

As reported by Dominic King from the Daily Mail: ‘Liverpool want to sign Darwin Nunez and are prepared to smash their transfer record to get him. Nunez keen on Liverpool, Man United and Atletico Madrid also interested in him’.

With the Reds laying down the gauntlet of not wanting to enter a bidding war and seemingly being okay with breaking their transfer record for the 22-year-old, then we have placed the ball in Benfica’s court.

Liverpool ‘genuinely contenders’ for 22-year-old Mane replacement Man Utd are also keen on, says Alex Crook

Alex Crook has confirmed that Liverpool are genuine contenders for the signing of highly-rated Benfica forward, Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan international has been heavily linked with the Reds and Manchester United, though it would appear that, as things stand, the former is very much in the race for his signature.

“Darwin Nunez, there is genuine interest from Manchester United, but a deal for him is not as close as has been suggested in the Portuguese media,” the journalist told talkSPORT. “I received a text message from a trustworthy source on Friday that Liverpool are genuinely contenders for him.”

The former Almeria hitman has enjoyed a successful campaign in the Portuguese top-flight, registering a remarkable 34 goals in 41 appearances (across all competitions).

‘Great player’ – Jose Enrique reacts to surprising Liverpool transfer link with eight-goal PL winger who could replace Mane

The idea of having to replace one of Sadio Mane or Mo Salah is a daunting prospect – the idea of both departing across two seasons doubly so.

With reports linking Liverpool to Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic as a potential option the club is considering, Jose Enrique suggested on Instagram that the Reds may be better off looking elsewhere.

The Merseysiders are said to be keen on sourcing a replacement for their 23-goal winger-turned-striker should a suitable target arise.

(Video) Watch the emotional scenes as Luis Diaz returns to his home town in Colombia to spend time with the locals

Following a successful first six months at Liverpool, Luis Diaz has returned back to Colombia to spend time with the locals of his home town.

The 25-year-old arrived on Merseyside from FC Porto in January and he instantly hit the ground running in a Red shirt and is now a regular starter under Jurgen Klopp.

He’s registered six goals and four assists in 26 games (across all competitions) and played a vital role in ensuring our quadruple hopes went right down to the wire.

Klopp’s side achieved Carabao Cup and FA Cup success this season whilst also finishing as runners-up in both the Premier League and Champions League.

(Image) Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota meet during international duty between Spain and Portugal

Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota have played 94 games for Liverpool between them in this campaign but their seasons still haven’t ended.

Our No.6 was thankfully removed from the playing squad due to an injury and our No.20 didn’t feature in the game either, which all leads to the question of why they were even there?

It’s quite frankly disgusting that the players are still having to play games, after a long grueling season and the next one starting early, ending late and containing a World Cup.
