Ex-Red Devil names four most disappointing Manchester United players this season

Former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick has picked out four of the club’s most disappointing performers this season.

It’s been a miserable campaign at Old Trafford with the club missing out on a place in the top four and once again failing to win any trophies.

This saw Man Utd sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier in the season, but interim manager Ralf Rangnick hasn’t done much better since coming in.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside, Chadwick made it clear he felt that the whole squad has to take responsibility for this poor season, with a few names in particular standing out as disappointing.

“It’s unfair to single out any individual. The squad as a whole really needs to take responsibility. It doesn’t seem right to say someone’s been worse than the rest, if results aren’t going well it’s a collective responsibility. I don’t think any of the players have performed … Read the rest

Arsenal looking to beat Juventus to Serie A attacking full-back by making player swap offer

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Udinese attacking full-back Nahuel Molina.

That’s according to a recent report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, who claims Juventus have already made their interest in the young Argentine known but the ‘Old Lady’ now face competition from Mikel Arteta’s Gunners.

Molina, 24, joined Udinese in 2020 following a free transfer from South American side Boca Juniors.

Since then Molina has shone under manager Gabriele Cioffi, who has often deployed the 24-year-old as a more right-sided attack-minded winger.

Having featured in 34 Serie A matches so far this season, the Argentina international has reached double figures when it comes to direct goal contributions.

Arsenal’s superb potential XI if they seal double Premier League transfer raid this summer

Arsenal will surely have a busy summer this year, whether they finish in the top four or not.

The Gunners’ Champions League hopes were dealt a major blow after a surprise 3-0 defeat at the hands of rivals Tottenham in midweek, and it’s little surprise that they already seem to be working on strengthening their squad in the summer.

Let’s face it, if Arsenal do hold on and get that fourth spot, they’ll have over-achieved, with this squad not as good as the likes of Man Utd and Spurs on paper, while it’s a long way behind Chelsea, even if the gap between themselves and the team third in the table is now not that big in terms of points.

And if Mikel Arteta’s side bottle it late on and miss out on the top four again, that’ll be even more reason to make the changes required to ensure they’re … Read the rest

Man United’s season summed up after training ground bust up

Two senior Manchester United players were involved in an alleged training ground bust-up this week which sort of sums up the season for the Red Devils.

According to an article ran by Manchester Evening News, an incident took place towards the end of a Man United training session at Carrington on Thursday in which the two unnamed players were set to have clashed with each other, the day United returned to training following a four-day break.

This brought the training session to a premature end and if the players are important for United’s future, this is yet another headache for incoming manager Erik ten Hag to have to deal with.

The Ajax boss will take over from Ralf Rangnick at the start of next season and is tasked with turning  Man United’s fortunes around as the club is miles behind Man City and Liverpool in the English football pecking order.… Read the rest

Tottenham and Everton among clubs in the hunt for Portuguese star

Tottenham and Everton are among the clubs in the race for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Palhinha has been a regular in the Sporting side for a few years now, and spent some time on loan at Braga before that. However, this year he has kicked on even more, and received his first Portugal cap in 2021. Since then, he has played 12 times for his country, and his performances are attracting the interest of clubs around Europe.

Jeunes Footeux are now reporting that Tottenham and Everton are interested in the Sporting midfielder, along with Wolves, Leicester, and Sevilla. The 26-year-old is reportedly set to leave the club this summer, and a few Premier League sides are looking to reinforce their midfield.

Arsenal offer €50million for transfer of Premier League star following talks

Arsenal have reportedly offered €50million for the transfer of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.

The negotiations seem to be at an advanced stage, according to Goal, following Fabrizio Romano’s revelation in his CaughtOffside column that Arsenal had approached Jesus’ agent.

The Gunners lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January and are now facing the prospect of both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah also leaving as free agents this summer.

Jesus makes sense as an ideal signing for Arsenal, with the 25-year-old never quite managing to establish himself as a regular at City, despite an impressive record of 95 goals for the club in total, which have contributed towards three Premier League title wins, as well as an FA Cup and three League Cup final victories.

“He offers something different” – Man United urged to seal transfer of Premier League star

Brentford playmaker Christian Eriksen would be a worthwhile signing for Manchester United when he becomes a free agent this summer.

That’s the view of former Red Devils ace Luke Chadwick, who was full of praise for Eriksen when he discussed the Denmark international with CaughtOffside.

Eriksen suffered a life-threatening cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 last summer, and it’s astonishing to see him come back so strongly since then with some fine performances in the Premier League.

Chadwick is a big fan of the former Tottenham attacking midfielder, and admits he’d add something different to this Man Utd squad, who could do well to try picking up some of the big-name free agents on the market this summer.

“You’d definitely take some of the free agents out there this summer. It’s been a difficult season for United so you’d want to see new blood coming in, creating a bit more … Read the rest

“Too easy for Brighton” – Manchester United “lucky it only finished 4-0”, says ex-Red Devil in scathing analysis

Manchester United have been ripped to shreds for their embarrassing performance in the 4-0 defeat against Brighton at the weekend.

The Red Devils looked ready for the season to end as they made it far too easy for their opponents, with the result also confirming they’re going to end the season with their lowest points tally and most goals conceded in the Premier League era.

Man Utd fans will be furious with how their team capitulated against Brighton, and former player Luke Chadwick wasn’t too impressed with his old club either.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, Chadwick said he felt it was “too easy” for Graham Potter’s side, and that United were lucky it wasn’t more than 4-0 in the end.

“It really summed up the season, and particularly the last few months. It all just came together in one disastrous performance,” Chadwick said.

“The big issue has really been the … Read the rest

Carragher reminds Neville of hypocrisy over Man United manager claims

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has responded to Gary Neville’s slightly hypocritical claim that Antonio Conte wouldn’t be the right fit to be Manchester United manager.

The pundit has reminded Neville that he backed Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone as being ideal for the job, even though the pair are similarly defensive-minded managers.

Conte is doing fine work at Tottenham, but his football isn’t always particularly pleasant to watch, and it may well be that it wouldn’t have gone down well at Old Trafford.

Neville certainly thinks so, having tweeted this after watching Conte’s Spurs side scrap out a 1-1 draw away to Liverpool yesterday…

Carragher, however, replied with this screen grab, which certainly makes you wonder what is so different between the two managers.

Neville has doubled down on his initial claim, however, saying he likes Simeone’s aggressive 4-4-2 in comparison to … Read the rest
