‘Home sweet home’ – Ian Rush is looking forward to a return to ‘Anfield South’ as Liverpool book their Wembley visit

Ian Rush took to his social media after Liverpool’s victory over Arsenal and was more than happy to share his love of a return to Wembley.

The Welshman is well versed in a visit to the national stadium and won eight domestic trophies whilst he was playing for the Reds, being the hero in more than one final.

Still a massive fan of the club, our record goalscorer was sure to celebrate with the supporters as he uploaded a post to his Instagram account.

Video: Digne silences Goodison Park as pinpoint assist helps Buendia to put Aston Villa ahead at Everton

When a player leaves for another club, their return often has that extra bit of spice, particularly if the move has only just taken place.

Lucas Digne left Everton for Aston Villa earlier in January, and his first start under Steven Gerrard came at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

Predictably, the home fans, who had cheered their most creative player’s name when he wore the royal blue shirt, booed him whenever he received the ball for Villa.

For the most part of the first half, the Frenchman had been marked out of the game, and aside from a couple of cross field balls, he’d not been able to do anything of note.

Not until the final minute of the half when the visitors were handed a corner.

Xavi talks winter signings, Dembele, Pique, Alba, Busquets, de Jong, ahead of Alaves clash

Barcelona will travel to the Basque Country for the second time in four days when they lock horns with Deportivo Alaves at the Mendizorrota Stadium. It is a golden chance for the team to leapfrog into the top four, and Xavi knows that better than anyone.

Speaking ahead of the game as part of his pre-game press conference, he answered questions from the press about his plans for the transfer window, the game, and his tactics.

Is the team planning to sign a striker?

“We are working on that, and on other aspects of the team. We spoke with Jordi [Cruyff] and Rafa [Yuste] I was clear about what the team needed. We are working hard to sign some players.”

Any update on Ansu Fati and his injury?

“Fati is deeply affected, there will be another meeting for him. We spoke with his family, it is a huge setback. We Read the rest

Liverpool predicted XI v Crystal Palace: Reds to make two changes to Carabao Cup semi-final team

Jurgen Klopp appeared to suggest another 7-0 thumping of Crystal Palace in their own backyard would be an unlikely eventuality – particularly given the arrival of Patrick Vieira and the Londoners’ relative rejuvenation under the Frenchman.

On Liverpool’s side, nothing but three points will be acceptable with regard to the long-run and the Merseysiders’ hopes of catching a flying Manchester City outfit in the title race.

Assuming that the Reds can win in the English capital, it would cut the deficit down to eight points, with plenty of twists and turns possible with both Premier League outfits having 16 games left to fight for until the summer.

Disgraced Arsenal Fan TV star’s veiled threat to fan channel as he attempts pathetic apology

The rise of Z-list ‘celebrities’ has much to do with the popularity of so-called football ‘fan channels’ on YouTube, a space where Arsenal Fan TV, also known as AFTV, were one of the first.

Run by Robbie Lyle, until the last 12 months or so the popularity of the channel continued to rise.

That was until an ill-intentioned comment from one of the channel’s contributors, known as Claude, saw him sacked and the channel receive significant backlash over it.

Things had then gone quiet and any controversy didn’t linger. Until recently.

That’s when it was revealed that another channel contributor, Liam Goodenough, known as Mr. DT, had seen his 12 month sentence for stalking and threatening his ex-girlfriend increased to three years.

Mo Salah’s agent sends cryptic tweet as contract negotiations rumble on

Mo Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, has created a few more headlines as he posted a new cryptic tweet of himself and our No.11.

The post has no words but features an image of himself and the Egyptian King together in what looks like Melwood, whilst he is on his phone behind our man laughing at the table.

The 29-year-old is adorned in a Liverpool training shirt but given the New Balance design, it illustrates that the image is not a recent one of the pair.

Newcastle United transfer target drops clear hint over his future

Newcastle United look to have been dealt a blow to their hopes of sealing the transfer of Sevilla defender Diego Carlos.

The Brazilian defender has shone in La Liga and has been strongly linked with a potential move to the Premier League this January.

Other English clubs have been linked with Carlos in recent times, but Newcastle looked the favourites to get a deal done this winter, until the player himself came out to distance himself from all the recent transfer gossip involving him.

Speaking during Spain’s popular Ultima Hora show: “I have a lot of time left here (in Seville).”

This also seemed to later be confirmed by Sevilla’s assistant manager Pablo Sanz as he suggested a move would be on hold until at least the summer.

Barcelona sporting director confirms: “Dembele does not want to continue”

Football has finally reached one of the final steps in the over-extended Ousmane Dembele – Barcelona renewal saga, as the club’s sporting director, Mateu Alemany, has confirmed that the Frenchman does not want to continue wearing the garnet and blue.

“We understand that Dembele does not want to continue with Barcelona, and our final stance has been communicated to him. We want committed players, and we have told him that has to leave the club as soon as possible,” he said.

Elaborating on the club’s stance on wanting to sell him in January, Alemany said, “We told Dembele he has to leave. We expect him to be sold before January 31st.”

There were several talks about how Barça continued to make offers to Dembele, which were rejected in search of a bumper salary. Alemany reaffirmed that stance, saying, “In six months, we have made several offers to Dembele. The coach’s Read the rest

Xavi talks Dembele, Pedri, Fati, Torres, Araujo, Memphis ahead of Athletic Club vs Barcelona

Barcelona took on Real Madrid last week in the second El Clasico of the season in the Spanish Super Cup. The result was far from ideal, but the performance was definitely convincing.

The next step in this journey for Xavi’s team is to build on that impressive showing, and get the result this time. They will travel to the Basque county in Spain tomorrow to take on Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey Round of 16.

Ahead of the mouth-watering clash, Xavi took part in the scheduled pre-game press conference.

On Athletic Club: “Athletic is going to demand a lot from us, they’re very intense and is led by one of the best coaches in Spain, with one of the best batches of young players. We had no luck with the draw.”
