Preview: Will Djokovic Answer Nadal's Statement Win In The Second Round?

Rafael Nadal made a statement on Wednesday at Roland Garros, losing only four games in his second-round victory. Top seed Novak Djokovic will try to respond with a message of his own on Thursday when he plays Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis.

Djokovic will take confidence from a comprehensive straight-sets victory in the first round against Mikael Ymer. The Serbian only lost five games in his win.

“If you keep on winning, obviously with every match that you win, your confidence level raises a notch higher,” Djokovic said. “Obviously these conditions are different than what we are used to here [at the] French Open. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have consequently been the preferred partnership but that has never sat well with supporters.

However, with Bailly now being handed more minutes, that partnership may be challenged and should he continue putting in similar performances, it will only be a matter of time before he starts.

Brewster to Sheffield Utd looks imminent after buy-back clause accepted & formal bid made – report

This comes after 14 players and members of staff of the Grifoni returned positive tests for covid19 after their 6-0 loss to Napoli.

Their results sent shockwaves around the Italian league and Juve’s game against Napoli this weekend is now under serious threat.

Napoli’s players will now have to be tested on a few occasions before the game on Sunday to determine if a considerable number of them have caught the virus in that game.

ANALYSIS: Assessing the Field – 2020 Russian GP

The Formula 1 circus has frequented the Sochi Autodrom since the Winter Olympics were held at the site in 2014, and this year was no stranger to providing controversies and Turn 2 dramatics. 

Valtteri Bottas won the sixth annual Russian Grand Prix at the Black Sea circuit, adding to his season tally of two wins. Max Verstappen, again, became the only driver to competitively challenge the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team duo, claiming second place and after a weekend plagued with time penalties and penalty points, Lewis Hamilton claimed the final podium spot. 

Like the previous round of the championship, the Tuscan Grand Prix, at Mugello, the opening few laps of the race were not short of clashes and retirements. During those opening laps, the grid lost Carlos Sainz Jr. and Lance Stroll to retirements due to collisions with barriers.

‘New upgrades from Ferrari are going to help Vettel’ – report
