Liverpool could secure second major summer signing if Reds are prepared to do one thing – report

Liverpool will have to cover Florian Neuhaus’ release clause if they wish to sign the midfielder in the upcoming window.

This comes from SportBILD (via Sport Witness), who claim that the Reds would have to cough up €40m to secure the services of the rumoured target.

With Gini Wijnaldum set to part ways with the club in the summer, after talks to extend his stay at Anfield fell through, Jurgen Klopp’s men are considered likely to recruit a replacement come the season end.

At 30-years-old, one can certainly understand why the Liverpool hierarchy may be somewhat reluctant to meet the Dutchman’s exact demands – whatever they were.

Club chief admits Premier League newcomers could sell two star players to Man United and Arsenal

You would hope that players will stick with a promoted team after an outstanding season in the Championship, but Norwich are turning into a yo-yo club and some of their better players have been here before.

They stormed the Championship so there will be a hope that they can take that momentum and secure survival next year, but a report from Goal has suggested that they may lose Max Aarons and Emi Buendia.

Admittedly it’s not an outcome that they are pushing for, but they indicated that the Sporting Director has admitted that both players will be allowed to go if the price is right.

Aarons has been linked with various teams but Man United need to add a new option at right back to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and it would make sense if they were a more attack-minded player to give them a different option.

Diego Simeone reportedly eyeing struggling Liverpool star as Atletico Madrid prepare for midfield clearout – report

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is reportedly eyeing out-of-favour Liverpool star Naby Keita in a potential summer swoop.

This comes from Fichajes.net (via CaughtOffside), with the publication claiming that the Argentine is set to begin a midfield clearout in the upcoming window, with the Guinean thought to be an ideal target.

Since struggling in the club’s 3-1 first-leg defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, the former RB Leipzig star has found it difficult to find much in the way of minutes under Jurgen Klopp.

Contact made: Man United eye move for La Liga star who has a release clause of only €25m

Man United’s squad doesn’t need a radical overhaul going into next season, but it does look like a few areas need to be strengthened.

Finding a top class centre back and attacker needs to be the priority, but they could also do with another option in the centre of midfield.

Paul Pogba looks like he could stay and sign a new contract although that’s still up in the air, but the biggest problem comes if he’s out as a combination of Fred/McTominay and occasionally Nemanja Matic isn’t enough for the elite level.

It’s unlikely that big money will be spent on the position because of the needs elsewhere, so AS have reported that Getafe midfielder Mauro Arambarri has emerged as a target.

Video: Liverpool superstar refuses to shake hand of Jurgen Klopp after Man United win in frosty moment

It wasn’t all smiles for one Liverpool superstar after a dramatic 4-2 win against rivals Manchester United this evening, with Sadio Mane turning sour on Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp was dotting around the pitch, showing respect to both the United players and his men that pulled off a comeback win tonight, but was not welcomed in his efforts to celebrate with Mane.

The German fist-bumped United midfielder Scott McTominay and then reached out to shake the hand of Mane, but the forward shook his hand as he threw off his wrist tape.

Klopp admitted that Mane’s frustrations lied with his decision to start Diogo Jota in his place at Old Trafford, with tensions rising as a result of Klopp not finding the time to explain the decision to Mane.

Video: Chelsea rattle crossbar twice within seconds as Olivier Giroud misses a sitter vs former side Arsenal

Chelsea came mightily close to finding an equaliser against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues having been denied by the crossbar twice in a matter of seconds.

With the Blues having beaten Manchester City at the Etihad over the weekend, Thomas Tuchel will have known that a victory tonight would all but secure their Champions League qualification for next term.

However, with the FA Cup final due to take place on Saturday, Tuchel could not field a full-strength team, especially with Leicester City having been gifted an extra day’s rest, with the Foxes having played last night.

Edouard Mendy, N’Golo Kante and Timo Werner were notable absentees, but it was still a strong Chelsea lineup, a side that you’d have expected to get the job done against an Arsenal side with nothing to play for.

Even after Chelsea went 1-0 down following a freak incident involving Jorginho and Kepa … Read the rest

Video: Sergio Leon strikes late to deal considerable blow to Barcelona’s title hopes by drawing Levante level

What on Earth is happening here? Levante have struck back against Barcelona – it’s 3-3!

When Barca went two goals to the good away at Levante, with Lionel Messi and Pedri finding the back of the net, Ronald Koeman could hardly have imagined there’d be such an arduous night ahead for his men.

However, a quick-fire double from Levante brought the scores level at 2-2, a four minute turnaround which moved Barcelona off the summit of La Liga and left it looking as though they’d scupper another opportunity to go top.

Ousmane Dembele allayed the fears of the Barcelona fanbase by putting them 3-2 ahead, but that’s proven to be yet another lead that they’re unable to hold, with Sergio Leon finding the finish at the near post.
