Lando Norris has one more testing session in the car tomorrow morning, before the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. With this being such a crucial year for the British driver, it is imperative that Norris gets as many miles as he can with the new Mercedes power unit ahead of the season.
The Briton did a mixture of tests runs throughout the evening sessions which included short and long runs and aero runs in representative conditions as Norris was driving in the evening sessions.
“A good second day in the car – a bit cleaner and more straightforward today in terms of the weather conditions, which meant we could do more normal running. We did a mixture of aero runs for half of my session, and some shorter and longer runs to look towards weekend preparation”
Getting an understanding of all types of running’s is crucial for the team to understand the areas they need to improve ahead of the race weekend but even for the final session of testing tomorrow, where Norris will be running in the morning for the first time. Norris hopes that with all these improvements made on the first and second day combined with any made on the third day, will allow the team to be as prepared as possible before the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.
“It’s good to get an understanding of both types of running to assess areas we need to work on ahead of race weekends, but also for tomorrow on track. We’ll go through everything tonight, come back tomorrow with some improvements and make sure we’re as prepared as possible before leaving Bahrain after three days and heading into the first race.”
Fans of Norris and McLaren will not have to wait long before they get to see the British driver in action in a grand prix, with the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix commencing at the end of the month.
