Koeman and Depay speak following Barcelona 3-1 Girona

Barcelona faced Girona in their second pre-season friendly. The Catalans won the game 3-1, with goals coming from Rey Minaj, Gerard Piqué, and Memphis Depay – who made his debut.

Ronald Koeman was satisfied with the game, saying: “I’m quite satisfied with how we played. Some players came back from holidays and I’m happy with the physical state of the players.”

“Depay was excellent. He has a great personality and we know that he is a great deal and a special player. He always scores goals and this is positive, not only Memphis, we have Griezmann who performed well too.”

Koeman also commented when asked what he thinks of Griezmann handing the penalty over to Depay:

“It is good, it means a lot to the coach, and this indicates the good spirit of the team. There are new players in the team and they have to adapt and such things are positive.”

The coach’s ever-requested Memphis Depay also spoke to the cameras following his first game with Barcelona:

“I am very happy to finally wear this shirt. There was a lot of energy in the stadium. I always try to see the spaces between the lines. I can bring a lot of creativity, goals, and assists.”
