Koeman’s agent angry about Laporta’s words: “It’s total nonsense”

Ronald Koeman’s future at FC Barcelona has been highly uncertain after a massively underwhelming end to the season. It is no secret that the Dutchman was not president Laporta’s first choice to lead his new sporting project.

Despite what seems to be a saturated market for the Catalans, the president is still in search of a new manager, and his public comments in his recent press conference has been the subject of criticism from Koeman’s agent, Rob Jansen, as reported by AD.

The Dutchman, his agent, and president Laporta recently held a meeting regarding his future at the club, which appeared to have made no decision as to whether or not Koeman is to continue.

Instead, the president is said to have told Koeman that he requires 15 days to find and hold negotiations with other coaches, and if no viable manager is found, then the Dutchman may continue for at least another season, a report confirmed by Laporta in his press conference.

As reported by Fox Sport, Koeman was admitted to the hospital yesterday for what was reported to be a great deal of anxiety, allegedly induced by the uncertainty surrounding his future at Barcelona.

President Laporta was asked about this in his interview, and he stated: “Yesterday, Ronald gave us a worrying fear. He had to go to the hospital, although fortunately everything was well. I told him to calm down and take it easy.”

This comment has not gone down well with the Dutchman’s agent, Rob Jansen, who was quoted saying: “It’s complete nonsense. Ronald only had his blood pressure measured. He has had a cardiac catheterization and is therefore checked every now and then. That’s it. Besides, Laporta should not have said anything. It’s a private matter.”

Jansen has been evidently unhappy with Laporta’s treatment of his client, and his agency recently tweeted a post that made the agent’s disappointment clear:

“Imagine: I want to marry you, but I have doubts.

Give me two weeks to find a better partner…

If I can’t find the right person, we will get married anyway!”

The tweet was clearly a hit at Laporta, and tensions are evidently mounting up between the current coach and the president, and it is not known whether or not he will continue at Barcelona.

It is not certain whether or not the spat between Jansen and Laporta was the result of intensifying worries over Koeman’s future or simply an error in translation. What is certain is that the Dutchman’s future will be ascertained very, very soon.
