Barcelona finally kickstarted the other end of their summer transfer window with the sale of Jean-Clair Todibo to OGC Nice two days ago. Sales for the summer have doubled now that the club has officially confirmed the departure of Konrad de la Fuente to Olympique Marseille.
The transfer, which has been in the works for weeks was unofficially confirmed by Marseille’s president a few days ago.
Barcelona announced the sale with an official statement disclosing the details of the transfer. While the transfer fee is set at a mere €3 million, Joan Laporta made sure to add a sell-on clause which would hand Barça a percentage of any future sale.
The statement does not, however, mention any buy-back clause which was initially reported.
Konrad has been with Barcelona since his early teens, arriving as a pre-teen in 2013. However, after a meteoric rise, the American international got his official debut with the senior team last season against Dynamo Kyiv in the UEFA Champions League.
With a bundle of attacking options in the team after the arrival of Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero, Konrad’s chances of breaking in seemed next to impossible, forcing this transfer.
