According to a report published by Football Transfers (via Robin Barner), Lionel Messi’s move to PSG is becoming inevitably close, with the capital outfit growing confident to sign the Argentine this summer. The club’s marketing department has told the city’s stores to be ready for a massive influx of shirt sales when the Argentinian would be announced.
Messi’s future at Barcelona has been in the air since the defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, which triggered the floodgates of rumours. Eventually, as Messi and Josep Bartomeu locked horns, the six-time Balloon d’Or winner refused to take the club he loves to the court in the hope of winning a transfer.
However, earlier just Manchester City were linked to Messi, with the Pep Guardiola quota shining bright. Recently, Paris Saint-Germain have joined the mantle to sign the 33-year-old.
Former player Neymar Jr has been dropping hints constantly, including publicly admitting that he wanted to play with Messi more than anything in the world.
Messi becomes a free agent in the summer is 2021 and is free to negotiate with any team from January onwards. It looks like PSG and City are the only teams in the world who can afford the salaries of the megastar.
Earlier today, reports claimed that there haven’t been made any contacts with the Argentine legend yet, as he is calm regarding his future. Currently, he is solely focused on his season at Barcelona. It will be intriguing and yet saddening to see how this drama unfolds.
