Sergio Busquets gets injured against Switzerland

Barcelona’s excessive amount of injuries continues to grow by the day. After Ansu Fati, Ronald Araujo, and Philippe Coutinho, Sergio Busquets is the latest player to get on the list.

The holding midfielder went down early in the second half in Spain’s draw against Switzerland. Koke then replaced Busquets in the 73rd minute. For now, the length of the injury is unknown, but it might be a muscle discomfort.

If the 32-year-old’s injury proves to be lengthy, however, Ronald Koeman will have to find solutions. The Dutch manager has counted on the Spanish defensive midfielder many times this season. Miralem Pjanic has replaced Busquets on many occasions, but there are not many options to replace Pjanic if something happens to him.

Koeman does not count on Riqui Puig and Carles Aleña but might be inclined to give them more gametime now that the veteran midfielder is out. After the Dutchman’s comments on Puig, this is the perfect occasion to make him eat his words up.

Besides, Busquets has not enjoyed the best start to the season. Him getting some rest might be beneficial for Barcelona in the remainder of the season. Let’s wish him a speedy recovery.
