The stunning numbers behind Solskjaer's turbulent reign at Man United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is rightfully facing criticism over his credentials after watching his side crash out of the Champions League.

The legendary Norwegian only needed a point vs RB Leipzig to secure progress to the next round but instead fell to a 3-2 defeat instead.

United conceded early and truthfully all three goals were scored in poor fashion as the German club ran riot.

Fans were raging with the loss, perhaps not necessarily because of this particular result but just the fact that the club could not get out of the group stage despite building a nice advantage early on.

In the first two fixtures, the Red Devils defeated PSG and Leipzig convincingly and it meant they only needed four points from their remaining four matches but instead, they lost thrice to embarrassingly fall to the Europa League.

The statistics certainly look good for Solskjaer and he does deserve praise for achieving them as well as all the other good work he has done.

However, some questionable decision-making of late has seen fans wonder whether he truly is the manager to lead Manchester United to greatness.

Many have always felt Solskjaer could be the manager to turn the ship around for the club and steady it but not necessarily be the one who delivers the ultimate silverware and that feeling has only grown stronger of late.

The statistics make for good reading but they ultimately remove a lot of context that must otherwise be considered.
